Vast amounts of data kept in repository codenamed Marina
Data retained regardless of whether person is NSA target
Material used to build 'pattern-of-life' profiles of individuals
The National Security Agency is storing the online metadata of millions of internet users for up to a year, regardless of whether or not they are persons of interest to the agency, top secret documents reveal.

Please, some naive person, tell me again how electing more Republicans is going to change this.
I think this is awesome. No more need to back up our computers or email, NSA has that taken care of for us.
We are getting REAL VALUE from our government.
Mr. Boehner, shut this government down.
The question is, can they store this as fast as I can type it?
I don’t think it will help. Much of this stuff started under George W it seems and has been expanded under Zero.
Best laugh I’ve had all day!
“Best laugh Ive had all day!”
The NSA has that laugh recorded.
By the way; why do you have so many icons on your desktop? And you need to defragment your hard drive.
Most Freepers have a prominent spot in that collection.
Up to a year. How stupid do they think we are.
But the democrats won’t use this data against their political enemies or anything.
Oh, I'm betting it started long before W. But the huge leap in the technological capabilities has opened up great opportunities for them to enslave us.
I believe it boils down to them doing whatever they can get away with. And it has been amply demonstrated that there is nothing to stop them because the Republicans for the most part are of the same mind as the Democrats in the matter of shredding the Constitution and controlling people as much as possible.
How many dozens of analysts are going through the daily deluge of kitty videos?
Imagine having that job.
“Another cutest-kitty-ever?????!!!???? AAgggggggggg!”
I’d love to see the “pattern of life” for 0bama, moochelle, valJ, Reggie love, bentaxel
I bet Snowden has those “pattern of life” results
they’ll only go through the data if you’re a threat to them, i.e. running for election.
Hope they have enjoyed spying on my online adventures with MYHABIT, Rue La La, Fab, Lilly Pulitzer, Stuart Weitzman, Thierry Rabotin, Horchow, Williams and Sonoma, West Elm, Roche Bobois, Sur La Table, Restoration Hardware and the maddening Lancel website. Oh: and eBay. What were they thinking?
With all their scanning and IP traffic interception you'd think they would at least provide some useful services to American citizens. They could, for instance, mark spam email, or identify those bogus calls from telemarketers. Perhaps for a monthly fee they could let you know if that email from overseas really was a sales prospect, or if the girl in the chat room really was some nerd in a cubicle instead of a cheerleader from the University of Alabama.
The marketing possibilities are endless. “NSA; We have your back”.
Maybe an IPO will be coming?
Only a year?
More likely forever. You never know which college kid that commits embarrassing hijinks might want to run for office one day and needs his arm twisted.
The FBI has a long history of blackmailing American citizens. That’s practically how they got their start. All of this under Obama and a Democratic controlled Senate and yet, somehow, we’re the fascists? Right. Sure. Got it.
