As more details emerge about Alexis, Lieberman said he was concerned that the shooting renews worries for people with mental illness and once again raises questions about how society treats disorders.
I think it immediately arouses fears and enhances stigma about people with mental illness, that theyre psychotic killers and wackos running amok, Lieberman said. Its unfortunate.

Smart. Better dead than sorry, I always say.
The voices in my head said not to worry about it. They also said the aliens are our friends.

No, no - clearly it wasn’t this guy’s mental state that caused this, it was the GUNS! Please place the stigma where the stigma belongs!
Exactly.
" I kept hearing voices, then I found out it was Michele nagging
me about buying new diamonds and a Vineyard house with our
Syria war profits. Was she ever mad when Putin weighed-in."
Someone posted the lyrics to a song by the Atlantic Rhythm Section yesterday, and I "heard" it for the rest of the day.
This is one of the problems with restricting the civil rights of people with "mental illness": there's no agreement on what constitutes "dangerous".
And, everyone is entitled to due process. That decision can't be made by someone, with no opportunity for a fair and speedy appeal.
[There are similar problems with protection orders, which are routinely abused in divorce proceedings]
This is just to defend the fact that both the VA hospital psychs and the people responsible for giving him a security clearance dropped the ball.
These are just more examples of Liberal policies and their unintended consequences. Just their Chickens are coming home to roost.
The voices in my head told me not to tell anyone about the voices in my head.
Good ole NBC helping out Obama regime by telling the nation this garbage.
...Pushed in large part by the Kennedy's trying to assuage their own guilt over the treatment of Rosemary.
the assumption in all these mental health cases is that the people have already seen someone, and are in the mental health system somewhere. what if this s the first time for someone? someone undiagnosed?
“So, if I can’t get a particular tune out of my head, am I having hallucinations?”
Depends. Were you just remembering, or were you sitting 10th row, center seats at an ARS concert?
Also, if the voices are more common than your thoughts, as the title says, that might be a problem.
I find it odd that a guy who’s voices told em it was okay to run WIth AL GORE...is bringing this up.../s
The first rule of voices in your head is do not talk about voices in your head. The second rule of voices in your head is DO NOT TALK ABOUT VOICES IN YOUR HEAD.
Libs love to quote studies that purport to show that the mentally ill are no more prone to violence than the average population.
What they are not honest enough to quote are the exclusionary criteria for those studies, which usually exclude some combination of patients who, 1. do not take their meds, 2. use drugs, and 3. have no prior history of violence.
Add those patients back in - and they are an enormous percentage - and the mentally ill present a quite violent population.
The rates of job-related death and injury for mental health workers far outstrips that of both the military and law enforcement.
Have you forgotten or were you not informed that America’s institutions had conditions worse than prisons? America has a dark and twisted history with mental illness that is well covered. There is a reason that former mental institutions are considered the most haunted places on earth, as most of them closed due to lack of funds, over crowding, and patient abuse.
Im all for bringing back the institutions but they need to be FUNDED.... PROPERLY. That means more taxes.
