When last we heard of 7435 LaSalle Boulevard in Detroit, it was busy going into foreclosure in 2010. At the time, disgraced Mayor Kilpatrick's sister, Ayanna, and her husband owed more than $210,000 on a mortgage. Now for a mere $40K, you can own the home where Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick once shoved two county sheriffs handing a family friend a subpoena! The 3,500 square foot abode has four bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, 2 half bathrooms, and a two-car garage. The price is $39,900.

No thank you.
Not unless the cost to buy, plus any back taxes, plus the cost to move the home to somewhere decent (like Texas) is less than say $250,000.
To: kevcol
If they PAID me $40,000 to live there I’d still say no.

looked it up - was a shooting around the corner from the house last month. Other than that, seems like a fine place to raise a family.

Detroit, America’s Mogadishu wannabe city.
If visiting, heavy armored vehicles with deployable weapons of mass destruction recommended.

I’m not familiar enough with Det anymore to comment. It’s close to Hamtramck, and Google street view makes it look like the adjacent homes are pretty decent shape. I’m sure some Mich freepers will jump in.

Probably a very nice quiet area. I'm guessing this is the auction price since some 20,000 properties are going up for auction this week.

There's several old areas around Detroit where the houses are old but beautiful. Indian Village is one of them.
This house looks like it's in one of those areas and if it's going for $40 K it's because the owners likely trashed the place.....
Got a friend who lives in a beautiful wooded and secluded area of Troy. The house next door was rented out to blacks and after they moved out, the home owner discovered the inside was totally trashed.........
