Kate Upton: Yes, I'm religious and proud of it
Fox News ^ | 08.08.13

Kate Upton won't be forced to hide her religious values.

The stunning supermodel got a tattoo of a cross on her finger so she could always show her devotion to God, she explained in the September issue of Elle.

"I was at a photo shoot and I was wearing a cross necklace that my mom bought me, and somebody made a joke like, 'Why are you wearing a cross? Like you would be religious.' And then they took [my necklace] away,” Upton told the magazine. “I was really affected by that. The whole thing made me realize that I do want [a cross] with me, at all times."

Grace isn’t a license to do whatever we want.

Further the 10 Commandments never were said, you don’t have to not steal, or lie, or murder, or covet others stuff, because you’re under grace now.

If anything one might argue Jesus raised the bar higher than the 10 Commandments for us under grace when He said they could be reduced to two - Love the Lord God with all your heart and mind and soul, and Love your neighbor as yourself.

That isn’t a reduction, that’s harder. And under Grace, no less.

No it is not.

But I don’t expect better from some people here.

I am not sure why people would be surprised that a Christian conservative thinks its not okay to parade around in public with your boobs hanging out.

Leviticus 19:28
“‘Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord.

“The essence of the commandments given to us by Paul and Moses thousands of years ago still apply today even though the cultural specifics have changed. We must not give our fellow Christians a reason to think we have slipped into “pagan” ways. Likewise, we must not give unbelievers any reason to judge us and reject us before we have had a chance to present the Good News.”

One would think that a woman who’s truly Christian would dress somewhat more demurely than she did on that cover of Sports Illustrated.

Mathew 5:17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

Sorry Charlie, NO TATTOOS!

If Kate were wearing a cross necklace in that photo, would anyone notice?

Let's just say it sounded a lot worse than that......thus the pictorial joke.........

And it was a joke. Illustrating the absurd with absurdity.

Just for the record - I’m not condemning or praising her. If she has faith in God as she says, then He will take care of her and she will grow spiritually. If to her the cross is some kind of mere talisman, or something for show, then she won’t grow spiritually until she deepens her attitude.

And I am not judging her heart because I don’t know it!

I was a fool, an idiot and committed many sins when I was her age - and I was trying to grow in my relationship with God. So I am not a bit “better” in any way than she.

That said, getting an inch from naked, for money, to incite lusty desires of men, is not Godly behavior. I hope she learns, and in all sincerity, I wish her well. Those who have been forgiven much, love much.

Gee, I wonder...If I told her she had a beautiful body, would she hold it against me?

I think the issue for me and some here is not her in particular - please note my above comment.

The issue is behavior.

And you’re going way over the edge in accusing anyone of envy, btw. Over the edge and off the cliff.

is that a body painted bottom? That would mean she has posed nude then.

Yeah, going around wearing as little clothing as possible

So which is more appropriate, dressing to hide the appropriate spots, dressing in a burkha or dressing like a nun?

I thought the Catholic church got rid of those bad habits?

If a woman walked into any business in her bra and panties she’d be arrested. But 14 year old girls can wear a bikini and nobody says a thing.

She has posed nude with body paint.

Would you let your daughter walk around like that?

She is a horrible role model for girls.

She is not a porn star, she’s a swimsuit model. There is a difference.

Swimsuit model who poses nude (body paint maybe) and topless? How many swimsuits are being advertised when she is nude and topless?

No, I would not. Maybe you misunderstood my post. I’ve seen 12 year old kids in Walmart with Daisy Dukes. Many of them with their parents. In my opinion the parents should be horsewhipped.

Proverbs 10:23 “Doing wrong is fun for a fool, but living wisely brings pleasure to the sensible.”

Truly, what we’re now discussing here is not the salvation of the model in question. We’re discussing something to do with your salvation. I have no idea what it is (a tattoo perhaps?) but whatever it is you doth complaineth too much.

And if you were secure in your own judgment that what you are doing or have done is glorifying God then you’d just ignore me and be done with it. Instead you’re trying to obtain some sort of satisfaction or validation from me.

While you have my respect as a fellow FReeper I’m afraid that any satisfaction or validation you’re seeking from me will be irrelevant because it’s clear that you have already judged yourself far more severely than I, an anonymous voice, ever could.

It’s not my approval you need, it’s your own.

Like I’m saying here, if what you are doing is good then you have nothing to accomplish by arguing with me. And if what you are doing is bad then I’m guessing you already know that is the case.

In any case I’m not going to endorse tattoos. In my heart I know they’re wrong.

Isaiah 5:20 “Woe unto them that callevil good, and good evil; that putdarkness for light, and light for darkness; that putbitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”

Man’s judgement is weak at best, and is subject to foolishness.

But God...looks upon the heart, and who can know it but God!
