I knew going into my 30-day experiment of living with a gun that I was putting my family and myself at risk.
Only two days into my experiment I went to breakfast with my two kids and some friends. After eating and shopping, my gun with me the entire time, I was anxious to get home to enjoy the warm weather. I put my purse on the counter and then spent the next hour out on the back deck. Walking into the kitchen to refresh our drinks, I noticed my purse with the 9mm Glock still inside it. Id forgotten to lock it up! Panic set in as I realized my teen son was playing videogames just 10 feet away. What if hed decided to get the socks Id bought him from my purse while I was out on the deck? Thoughts raced through my mind and I pondered how Id just straddled the fine line between being a responsible gun owner and an irresponsible idiot whose 15-year-old just accidentally shot himself or someone else with my gun.
...
Since having the gun Ive had two repairmen, a carpet cleaner, and a salesmen in my home. If the guns for self-protection, its not going to do any good in the safe, but its not really practical to have the gun pointing at them as they work.
Blah, Blah, Blah

I tagged it humor, because it is, may places, kind of funny. Maybe not "ha ha" funny, but "shake your head in dismay" funny.
It's all about Heidi's fears and anxieties, and about how all this makes her feeeel. There's very little of it that I believe actually happened.
She doesn't need a gun.
She needs a psychologist. Or a priest. Or a redneck friend.
How about rewriting the entire article except where she says "gun" put the word "abortion" in and see how hilarious it becomes?
She’s one of those airheads who leaves her kids in the hot car because she “forgot”.
When someone breaks into their house and is raping their teenage daughter, let them pick up a phone and call the police. They'll be there in plenty of time.... to take down your information and start looking for the perps.
If they're still alive.
Reads like fiction to me.
Interesting how liberals moralize the inanimate, like guns or profits.
On the other hand, an unborn baby is inanimate - a blob of tissue with no value or moral aspect.
'tweren't no straddling about it Ms. Yewman. You ARE an "irresponsible idiot."
She might be OK for practice.
Heidi, Heidi, Heidi, you just have a VERY lazy gun.
If she’s that dingy I wouldn’t trust her with a car either.
Hmmmm ... This is one activity where you can never say “This is a drill. This is ONLY a drill”. Even if it is “drilling” ... so to speak.
Reads like fiction to me.
There's a lot of her story I flat out don't believe.
In the first piece she talked about having a protest of Starbuck's admirable carry policy and being "yelled at by fat men with guns."
Now, what is it they say on the Internet? "Pics or it didn't happen!"
Heidi is quite irresponsible. Having possession of a gun for a month did not make her more responsible.
Information is SO easy to come by had she been so inclined. Then she would have had a real story.
http://www.thecorneredcat.com <<< GREAT INFO on website & in Kathy Jackson’s book (If you have to fight, fight like a) “Cornered Cat”.
Btw, Kathy is a firearms instructor in Seattle, WA — Heidi is in WA as well. What a wasted opportunity, Heidi.
“Panic set in as I realized my teen son was playing videogames just 10 feet away.”
Either she failed to instruct her family in gun safety before she brought it into the house, or else she believes it would magically leap from her purse and attack her son, or she has a kid who goes riffling through her purse when she isn’t looking...in any case, the gun itself is not the problem here.
Dear Ms Yewman:
Ignorance is not bliss, it’s, well, ignorance. Don’t be ignorant.
Sincerely,
Mad
That’s not a Glock in her purse. I think she’s just another lefty scheisser.
She bought socks for her son and those socks and the Glock were in her purse. Sock and Glock rhyme at least. Was there a bag of Skittles in her purse and a baby duck? Did she get lessons on the Glock and get a Concealed Carry permit?
I didn’t read the article just the excerpt which was enough BS for me.
