Wasn’t he Police Story? Loved that show.

Born Feb. 29, 1944, in Chicago, he was a city police officer before turning to acting in his late 30s.

Farina appeared in films including “Get Shorty,” ‘’Saving Private Ryan” and “Midnight Run.”

Among his many TV portrayals was Det. Joe Fontana on “Law & Order.” He starred in the 1980s cult favorite, “Crime Story” and most recently was in the HBO drama series “Luck.”

The most disappointing thing about the premature termination of the HBO series “Luck” was not getting to see where his character (Gus Demetriou) was going. He was a commanding actor. RIP

‘Crime Story’, Williams.

Superb period crime drama set in Chicago in the 1960s. Then shifted off to Las Vegas.

Series was produced by Michael Mann. After ‘Miami Vice’.
