Even as it celebrates victories in the push for same-sex marriage, Americas gay-rights movement is experiencing self-criticism and internal divisions over its approach to other thorny issues.
Some activists say the nationwide marriage campaign, while worthwhile, has diverted energy and resources from causes that may be harder to marketsuch as rights for transgender people and advocacy to combat HIV and AIDS.
I wish we were spending a little more time working on these other issues and not just making marriage the centerpiece, said Terry Stone of CenterLink, a nationwide coalition of more than 200 community centers that serve lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender people.
Stone said the latest survey of the community centers patrons found that their top concerns were anti-gay bullying at schools, transgender rights, HIV and AIDS issues, and the need for more laws against anti-gay discrimination in employment, housing and health care. Legal recognition for same-sex couples was fifth on the list, Stone said.

Now that the homos have destroyed the last little bit of the sanctity of marriage, they’re admitting that it isn’t really that much of a prize.
Should’ve spent more time advocating fir chimeras
As in most things the Left typically confuse with “rights”, gay marriage is just another demand on others.
Here’s my prediction: there’s no such thing as a grievance faction that will ever run out of things to complain about.
INTERESTING IT’S SOUNDS LIKE IT’S ACTIVIST AGAINST ACTIVIST IN A WAY.
The two lesbians who started this whole debacle in Massachusetts are already divorced.
Just Sayin’
Those that act our homosexually are the bullies now and mean-spirited and showing continually that they are longing for help they themselves won’t allow for themselves or even others. Theirs is a suicidal, death wish way to live, unhealthy for all living things. Their parades are nothing but a demonstration that the “ladies” doth protest too much. Pride? Pride?
No one with full working faculties actually believes the pride thing, but everyone’s afraid to say the emperor has no clothes. In this case quite literally, those that act out homosexually are like the toddler who likes to take off his clothes to show off the curious thingy he’s discovered below his belt. Most males grow up; some don’t.
That’s not the only thing they’re going to regret if you believe what the Bible has to say about homosexuals.
Total recovery from a homosexual self-identification may or may not be possible from one individual to the next; but extreme anxiety and hostility can certainly be improved with treatment in most people.
Probably...a good theory!
Once upon a time, I was mostly ambivalent about queers. I always thought they had enough mental turmoil about who and what they were. And I REALLY didn’t care what they did behind closed doors.
But now, with their “in yer effin face,” belligerent, obnoxious and vile confrontational attitude, they have made a for real enemy here, where none had existed before.
Yeah queers, you made this “bigot” all by yourselves.
That thought actually occurred to me some time ago. The fact that they seek the "same" to reinforce their identity vs. seeking the "other" who compliments us and makes us whole.
Amen. I was exactly the same way. Didn’t think about them at all — then, in my face constantly. Well, they made me have to think about what I thought about them. And, the jury’s in, I don’t much like them. I think they are bullys.
I feel that way about liberals, muslims, anything obama....
Yeah, our society had pretty well destroyed it before they got involved. They just pushed the wreck over the cliff.
