( though even in California I have never seen asparagus displayed that way....it is usually just in the veggie case near the greens and celery with occasional sprayers going off)
Interesting. I’ve never seen bundles of it _not_ in a water bath. Even the local farmstands put ‘em in water.
To be honest, though, I did see a farmstand in MI that just had a tub full of loose asparagus with a scale nearby — kind of a bundle your own operation and a LOT cheaper. I don’t see it loose around here; ever.
