Yahoo mail users are now forced to accept our emails being scanned so they can send us ads. If you dont accept, you cant access your email.

What about Reagan.com? It would be worth the money.
If you pay for Yahoo! mail you don’t get ads. Why do you think you are entitled to something for nothing? Either accept the ads (which pay for the service) or pay for the service.
This is surprising to anyone? It is a free service - the infrastructure doesn’t support itself, the revenue must come from somewhere. Anything that is free is worth what you paid for it. I can’t point a finger and say that it is wrong or that I disapprove. It’s just business.
Yahoo CEO Marissa Meyer came from Google...
I have to find a new email service.
And Yahoo Finance used to be the best finance site on the web, but even that has changed.
Im sure it was going on but now they are boldly declaring it to the world that they will scan emails...
Nothing new. It’s been like that for some time.
Im not opposed to ads. I understand how the ‘free’ internet works.
Just not ready to be scanned without a care...
Wow, I just checked reagan.com out...
$40/yr. Awesome. Gonna read about this. I would be proud to have an @reagan.com for an email server...
Thanks for the tip.
I’m pretty sure they’ve been doing that for a while. Just now admitting it and getting you to approve.
The en essay grins......
Wonder what happens to my privacy when I email someone at gmail or yahoo?
Since those emails are being scanned, arent they going to get mine with my reply?
You make it sound like people who object are automatically part of the ‘something for nothing’ crowd. Prior to the update Yahoo mail did not attempt to cover costs/generate revenue through email scanning or outright charging a fee.
After having relative email privacy from the beginning (to the knowledge of the user), suddenly having private communications scanned simply does not sit well, especially with the recent gov’t snooping on every American everywhere (execpt for muslims).
Agreed...now boldly demanding we acquiesce or else...
Maybe two months ago, I bought a 25 ft. ethernet cord from wal-maart for a little over $3. A great deal as the same thing in the store is something like $30. They charged only 97 cents for shipping.
Since then I have gotten several emails from wal-mart offering various computer cords etc. I guess that is just wal-mart tho, not Google.
My point exactly...
Buy yourself a domain name and set up your own email. Probably cost only $50 or $60 per year.
Check out outlook.com
Screw Yahoo mail
Screw Google mail (gmail)
I’ve been having a good experience with outlook.com
Reagan.com, for $40/yr, is a good deal.
