Craigslist: Essay by a Teacher in a Black School

The truth is usually a tough thing to accept, so I understand if this is flagged. It would be a cowardly thing to do, but I understand it. Some people just ignore unpleasant truths. However, if you think ignoring the problem, or trying to censor the truth, will help our black children improve, you're dreaming. This is important, so I'm happy to repost - indefinitely if necessary. I find it interesting that NO ONE has had the intellect to refute anything in the essay. They can only attempt to censor it, as if doing so somehow makes it invalid. Weak minds, weak minds.

I've read the first 4 or 5 paragraphs before scrolling and learning I needed a better part of an afternoon to digest it all.

I (white) attended a predominately black high school in Boston in the early sixties (Boston Trade .. approx, 85% black at the time, populated by the Annunciation St. Projects in back of the school) and what I've read matches what I've experienced about 50 years ago.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with the substance of this thread starter...

The thing is, it is no surprise to many people here to the degenerate, undisciplined black kids in our public day care system today...

It starts at home, but then again, what is their home environment??? Much of the same sort of grabastic nonsense we see exemplified in the schools, err, day care system...

It is permeating into the other demographics as well, when you see anglo, Hispanic and other race/cultures emulating the nonsense...

I guess it can be attributed to the yutes of America these days...I remember there were some funny things we did to cause concerns like this in our elders back when I was that age...Which wasn’t too long ago...

The thing I see is the longevity of this counter societal demeanor extending wayyyyy into their adult lives...That’s where it is going to become an issue...

I blame white liberals for destroying the black education system which before intergration had order, discipline, respect and an expectation of success. That is what my mom told me when she attended an all black school in Memphis back in the 50s.

It sounds a lot like prison.

Yes, it might be best to setup the inner city schools as prisons and skip the middle man. It’s only 1 more meal and a cot at this point, think of the crime reduction if you locked them up from birth. This is the legacy of the baby boomer generation.

Yes...much if this stem from a fallen home environment, but look at what the parents grew up with admiring...Sharpton, Jackson, 0bama type figures encouraging them to cling onto their “black culture.”

The problem with hanging onto a culture that fails to meet the needs of their community is it will collapse on itself. Which I believe is what we see in a majority of these schools today.

White people don’t understand the ‘black experience.’ NO, we don’t and frankly who’d want too? It is not fun, not loving, not generous, not moral it is devoid of any respect. It is a fallen culture. And as such, it is a greedy culture. For all they do not have their greed is not driven by meeting their real needs. Indeed many will forgo basic needs, to satisfy their greed.

And that greed was instilled by the democrat party.

At least he didn’t try to teach math.

Micheal Savage and my brother have one thing in common. They both tried to teach math at a black junior high school in Jamaica (Queens), New York.

It was a eye opening experience for both of them.

If the KKK tried to devise a scheme to keep blacks ignorant and unemployable, they would hard put to come up with something worse than the current American system of public “education”.

End public education now.

Repeal child labor laws.

Taxpayers win. Students win. America wins. Only the teacher unions lose.

I went to integrated public schools in Philadelphia in the 50's, early 60's, before forced integration. My elementary school and high school were of basically the same socioeconomic group (both black and white) and there was no racial distinction nor racial problems.

We all got the same education and the behavior standards were the same for all.

My junior high, because of the city drawn boundaries, had middle class white kids (we were not rich by any stretch) and a lower class of blacks. The school fed 2 different high schools. There there were some incidents.

What I think I am trying to say is kids did better when they were of the same socioeconomic group and the only difference was skin color. We ignored the skin color since in every other way we were all alike.

This captures everything I have observed. It is truthful and heartbreaking. I’ll stop with that comment for fear of what I’ll say...

PS. And they forgo those basic needs because the government provides for them...instead of them for themselves. ...democrat party’s fault.

Grew up in nearby suburb of Atlanta schools in the late 70’s and through the 80’s. Pretty much sums up my experience.

I’m currently visiting NW South Carolina, and have been here twice before, visiting my daughter, granddaughter and her husband.

My experience with Blacks here has been entirely positive. I feel a lot less “separation” than back in SoCal. Certainly there must be some “angry” blacks around here, but I ain’t see ‘em.

Maybe I’m just living a charmed life.
