Of current interest.
It concerns the life of William E Colby, who served as Director of CIA during the period of the Church Committee investigation.
In it you will see footage of some of the most liberal members of the Congress at that time railing against the possibility that the CIA was being used to forward the political agenda of the executive branch.
You will also see and hear these same individuals expressing horror that - in the course of the pursuit of these political goals - the CIA might have tapped the telephones of American citizens.
The CIA. You don’t know. You don’t want to know.
Church Committee = 1975. Director Colby eventually replaced by George H.W. Bush.
I have no idea about this, so for those more “in the know”,
what order would you list as the most dangerous and most likely to really run this country? Would the CIA prevent a military coup? FBI stronger than DHS?
Nowadays, I would fear the DHS and the IRS over any other FedGov brownshirts.
I see that this was produced by Colby’s son. Do you think that it was objective?
I think it is more likely the CIA would aid and abet it. Of course, the DIA and NSA need to be figured into that equation as well.
Well, as you said, it was produced his son.
By the standards of our present-day MSM, Walter Cronkite’s old series “The 20th Century” would be said to be hopelessly biased, because it failed to portray the United States as the cause of all the problems of the world.
I thought it was highly informative and factual.
No one who hated Mr Colby sat for an interview with Carl Colby. However, media coverage of such persons was included.
U.S. Senator Frank Church and William E. Colby, Director, CIA
