FULL TITLE: World war brew: J.C. Penney places huge billboard advert over Interstate Highway for kettle 'that looks just like Hitler'
Retailer J.C. Penney may want to rethink the design of their new kettle after a string of customers complained it looks remarkably like Hitler.
The retailer advertised the new kettle - which is exclusively available in its stores - on a huge billboard over the 405 Interstate Highway in southern California.
But rather than being tempted into buying new kitchen equipment, commuters driving along the route near Culver City found themselves instantly reminded of the Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.
Several motorists took pictures of the sign, which is around 10 foot tall and 36 foot wide, and posted it on Twitter along with their views about the kettle's resemblance to the World War II dictator.

Why are they complaining? They’re supporting people that idolize Hitlers ideals. They should be proud... after all, he WAS a socialist.
Well, to be honest, it looks like a cartoon caricature of Hitler. But close enough.
Actually they are not supporting the people idolize Hitler. JCPenny’s sales are slipping and we all know why.
Its just a chance thing.
Twitchy.com had this last week. Amusing.
Either way someone in advertising should have caught this. When I first saw it I thought it looked like a cartoon of Hitler. I could not even see it was a kettle till I saw a close up of the product.
If anyone thinks that that’s they were aiming for, he’s an idiot...
But I’m ofennnnnnnded! Gimme moneeeeeee!
Remember the man in the Sears catalog on page 283 (or whatever ) ?
For you young whippersnappers.
Yes, Sears used to have a very strong mail order business. There was a catalog in almost every household.
Was that Sears catalog the one with the guy’s Johnson hanging below his boxers?
“Either way someone in advertising should have caught this.”
I was talking to a 25 year old who didn’t know who JFK was and had never heard of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. He graduated in the top 5% of his HS class. So it’s entirely possible that the 25 year old in marketing had never heard of or seen Hitler.
“Annex”. Stupid smart phone
They can’t win.. LOL
Pretty close to David Axel Rod, too.
Is it just me, or is it more than coincidence that Axel Rod resembles Der Fuehrer?
Hitler’s cartoon puppy, perhaps.....
Classic case of the pot calling the kettle Hitler.
