Another Dangerous Coronavirus: MERS

Alabama’s Dept. of Public Health reports respiratory illness of unknown origin that has infected 7 people in southeast Alabama and killed 2. Does not appear to be avian influenza, but MERS is a question while CDC test results pending.
Of most concern is the fact that the different clusters
of MERS seen in multiple countries increasingly supports the hypothesis
that when there is close human contact, this MERS coronavirus
can transmit from person to person.

I wonder if there is an illegal alien population near there..
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
Who knows? There might be a nearby pig farm with workers from American Samoa, or a Perdue chicken-packing plant full of illegals from who knows where.
How old are the people? Is this a nursing home issue, or are these normally healthy folk?
