What say you?
The logical conclusion based on facts in evidence would be yes....
My own church has no problem with this ~ our founder, “Alexander Campbell, himself, opposed female preaching, but reluctantly agreed that women did have a role in the ancient order of the church. In 1835 he wrote, From Romans 16:1 and 1 Timothy 3:11, it appears that females were constituted deaconesses in the primitive church. It followed, then, that they should have a place in the restored church.” ~ see: http://revjohnkc.blogspot.com/2009/09/stone-campbell-women.html That’s the First Century church ~ other bodies may well interpret Scripture differently.
Given who the “they” people are (as cited above), I don’t think I’d accept much of anything that they would want to declare involving any matter of Christian doctrine.
In the Jewish world there is no such thing as a “Messianic Rabbi”
1 Timothy 2:11,12 — “Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.”
1 Corinthians 14:34,35 — “Let your women keep silence in the churches (assemblies): for it is not permitted for them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.”
There are a lot things that appear in the Bible (rape, murder, adultery, etc). That doesn’t mean God approves of them, especially when the Bible clearly condemns such practice. And when men (like Paul) moved by the Holy Spirit speak, we should listen. Women should be silent in assemblies. Women should not usurp authority over men. And these doctrines should not be dismissed as cultural aberrations. Hebrews (9:8-10) is very clear which OT practices are no longer in effect.
It is blasphemous to call any man “Rabbi”. (Matthew 23:8-11)
Weak and disobedient men breed apostasy. These “Jezebels” creep in and seduce Christ’s servants (Revelation 2:19-23).
Yes. I would think that is based upon the female shepherds in the Bible.
Or a "Reform rabbi."
Or a "Conservative rabbi."
