FULL TITLE:
'I would have reported him - brother or no brother' - Ariel Castro's brothers break their silence after to insist they knew nothing about female prisoners in home
The brothers of Cleveland kidnapping suspect Ariel Castro have spoken out for the first time, saying that they would have turned him in if they knew three women were being held prisoner in his home.
The brothers, who were arrested along with Ariel Castro, say that since their release from prison, they have been faced with online death threats, a break-in at one of their homes, and vandalism.
They were released several days after their arrest due to lack of evidence linking them to the crimes.
When asked by CNN reporter Martin Savidge if the public would always suspect they had a role in the kidnappings, they answered 'yes' in unison.
Onil Castro said: 'The people out there who know me, they know that Onil Castro is not that person, has nothing to do with that - would never even think of something like that. I was a very liked person [before the arrest], never had any enemies.

I remember seeing one of these brothers interviewed in front of his house when the women were missing, when a reporter asked him what he thinks about the search effort he said “It was a waste of taxpayer money.” Maybe these brothers had nothing to do with it but they are still scummy
Has anybody heard why they arrested the brothers?
I still have a hard time believing that no one else knew
I believe they were with Ariel at the time of the arrest.
Might be interesting to know what the brothers did when the monster beat up his former wide and nearly killed her.
Did they stand by their brother or take the side of his wife?
Seems the whole neighborhood KNEW. But the police didn't investigate because they thought the neighbors were 'imagining' things.
Neighbors Reportedly Saw Women On Leashes In Backyard Of Kidnapping Suspect's House
A neighbor who lives three houses away from Castro said her daughter saw a naked woman crawling in Castro's backyard several years ago, according to the AP. She called police, but they "didn't take it seriously," the woman said.
(Did the brothers know, or participate? Judge for yourself.)
Other women who lived in the neighborhood reportedly told Lugo they saw three men controlling three women on dog leashes crawling around naked in the backyard of the house, according to USA Today. The women who saw this told Lugo that police never responded to their call.
wow
Same for me...How did the brothers not know?
But the idea that in all this time they NEVER knew seems preposterous. Especially since it appears that the neighbors knew and that there were at least two other men involved, according to neighbors.
Won’t the girl’s statements and eventual testimony tell us whether or not they knew or not?
Am I mistaken or wasn’t it reported that he took the little girl to the park and that she called his mother “Grandmother” and told everyone she was his girlfriend’s daughter? Surely, someone knew something.
The police can arrest you anytime, but they can only charge you if they have evidence that you committed a crime.
It’s my understanding that the brothers were together at the time the murderer-rapist was arrested. It’s likely the other two were arrested in case they were involved.
I’ve seen news reports that indicate the women told the police only Ariel was involved.
That’s what I’ve heard as well. His own daughter said the little girl looked just like him and he denied being her father.
So....did any family member ever meet the “girlfriend”?
No, you are not mistaken.
Revealed: 'Kidnapper' comforted victim's MOTHER as he helped neighbors look for missing girls
Elsie Cintron, who lives three houses away, said her daughter saw a naked woman crawling in the backyard several years ago and called police. 'But they didn't take it seriously,' she said.
Another neighbor, Israel Lugo, said he heard pounding on some of the doors of the house in November 2011.
Lugo said officers knocked on the front door, but no one answered. 'They walked to side of the house and then left,' he said.
Mr Samal, a community organizer in Cleveland for the past 30 years, said that the brothers were 'classic psychopaths' and 'devils'.
Ariel Castro, Cleveland kidnapping suspect, helped look for missing girl
About a week ago, Castro took the 6-year-old girl to a nearby park, where they played in the grass, said Israel Lugo, a neighbor who lives down the street. "I asked him whose kid was it, and he told me his girlfriend's daughter," Lugo said.
Re arrest them and waterboard.... It’s the only way to be sure.
Sounds like I could be sitting in the front yard having a glass of tea with a neighbor who, unbeknown to me, is a monster and become implicated.
I really doubt that Ariel confided in anyone. What would he say? “Hey..I got these three kidnapped girls in the house. They have been there for 10 years”.
In any case the girls..no, ladies, will at some point say if anyone else was involved. I suspect they already have or the brothers would not have been released.
Which may be very well true. So... how would one explain this?
Neighbors Reportedly Saw Women On Leashes In Backyard Of Kidnapping Suspect's House
"Other women who lived in the neighborhood reportedly told Lugo they saw three men controlling three women on dog leashes crawling around naked in the backyard of the house, according to USA Today. The women who saw this told Lugo that police never responded to their call."
"Khalid Samal, a former head of Cleveland Safety, said that the trio would hand out flyers and acted concerned even though they allegedly had the women locked up just blocks away."
"'Pedro and Onil took part in the searches too."
"Mr Samal, a community organizer in Cleveland for the past 30 years, said that the brothers were 'classic psychopaths' and 'devils'."
"He said: 'Working with drug dealers and gang members that's what they do, they get in there and act like they are part of it. They're psychopaths'."
I’m not going to swear to anything...but I think the “women on dog leashes” story has been debunked.
