Not only the Germans had jets in combat, the ME-262 and He 162; but the British had the Gloster Meteor that was used against the V-1s in late 1944 and was deployed to the continent in early 1945. The Bell XP-59 was being test flown, but never produced. Also, theLockheed P-80 was being test flown and would have been deployed if the war had gone into 1946. Major Richard Bong, the top US ace of WWII was killed doing test flying of the P-80.
