ESPN ^

In the past three years, 54 of 198 (27.3 percent) NCAA tournament games have been decided by three points or fewer (or went to OT), the most in any three-year span in tourney history. Considering that, along with the unpredictable nature of things all season long in college basketball, we should be in for quite a ride during the next three weeks.
So, if you like to consider historical trends -- some more recent than others when you fill out your bracket, we've got plenty to consider
68, in fact, in honor of the size of the tourney field. You'll have to decide for yourself which ones have merit in this particular tournament. More than anything, though, we hope you find the information below fun to read as you get excited for the start of the Big Dance.

I predict the team that scores the most points in the final game will be the NCAA Champion.

Or makes their free throws. I'm tired of ESPN playing Darius Washington's fateful misses.

I agree! Florida was the only SEC team in the top FORTY rankings for most of the season.

The SEC was garbage this season. They were lucky to get 3 teams in.

New Mexico is my Final Four sleeper. The way they play defense they may even win it all.
Full discloser, I am a New Mexico homer through and through!!

Well at least Ole Miss is in with their resident nut job, Marshall Henderson. I;m embarrassed that he is a Texan.

Yes, plural. Cost us the title, but thanks to Snake Callipari it would have been vacated anyways.

Our son watched New Mexico play New Mexico State up close and personal.
His comment is that both played so horribly, he swears they will be the first high seed to lose.
Just reporting. Is that racist?
