The crucifixion of Jesus Christ (33 A.D.) is the most attested historical fact of the ancient world. In addition to the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, it is also widely attested by Greco-Roman and Jewish writers. Closely related, history also confirms that the tomb of Jesus Christ on that first Easter morning was indeed empty. Every vested party knew where Jesus was buried after he died. Yet on Easter, the tomb was found empty, and nobody has ever been recovered ...

A very good and concise article. It also links the sources in the article itself. Lots there to research and save for future reference.
Christ had made it well known through his ministry that he would be raised on the third day after his death. The Pharisees certainly knew of this claim, hence the Roman guard at the tomb. The Jewish leaders simply had to wait three days (maybe four for good measure), open the guarded tomb and reveal that Jesus was still there (and just a little bit ripe). “The Way” would have collapsed immediately and the Pharisees would have been done with all this messiah trouble once and for all.
But history doesn’t record it that way....
The references/links are very helpful.
There is certainly much more that could have been expressed, but it is a great summary.
Yes they are, I bookmarked them all for future reference. I’m going to put the books from Amazon on my wishlist so I don’t lose track of them.
I like to think I’m an American Judeo-Christian. I believe in only One God, no Satan, and no divinity in Man beyond The Father’s allowance of the human mind to abstract information from its environment.
However, I believe that Jesus was mashiach in the sense that America could not have been founded, and will not be able to continue, without his influence.
God save our souls.
it is interesting that you believe “in only one God” and “no Satan”
quite in opposition to God who instructed us to believe in Satan..

In some ways, perhaps the whole point of the article is that the resurrection of Christ as a historical fact proves the deity of Christ as the Son of God. As C.S. Lewis said so well many years ago - Jesus Christ is either a liar, a lunatic, or the Son of God. He cannot be anything else. Since he claimed to the be the Son of God, if he isn’t - then he is both a liar and a lunatic. But when you read the gospels, Jesus was obviously not a liar or a lunatic. One is left with the solemn realization that he was indeed the Son of God.

Not in the Old Testament, he didn’t. Those refer, I believe to God Himself, from my interpretation of Hebrew scriptures, except in Job, which is Talmudically viewed as illustrative fiction.
Belief in Satan is polytheism IMHO. There is an abundance of evidence for God in the universe, but none whatsoever for Satan until he becomes a causative agent for evil that Man abstracts from his own mind.
It is interesting though that Jesus ostensibly taught us to pray "Our Father..." which is a genuinely structured Hebrew prayer, making no reference to anything outside Old Testament standards.
An interesting work in this regard is Hyam Macoby, Revolution in Judea: Jesus and the Jewish Resistance (1973)
Regardless of whether or not you believe Paul supernaturalized Jesus, the tomb was still empty on the First Easter. The empty tomb was one of the primary reasons why Paul did supernaturalize Jesus because it was proof of his resurrection. John’s gospel, though written later than even Paul, is full of Jesus statements asserting his deity. The deity of Christ is strongly implied in the synoptic gospels - and the title “Son of Man” is a divine Messianic title taken from Daniel 7 in the Old Testament.
Please don’t mistake. I want you to have that strongly held and affirmed faith. That’s the main part of what I meant in #7. It just never worked so well for me across my whole life as did finally the fundamentals of Judaism as expressed in Torah. But a fervent Christianity is necessary for the whole world. That I’m agnostic to Jesus’ divinity does not matter a wit to that.
Let the Good News spread!
“The crucifixion of Jesus Christ (33 A.D.)” NOPE he was Crucified around 29 or 30 AD(he was born 2 or 3 BC).
Harold Hoehner’s work on the problem of 30 or 33 AD (which is linked to in the article) is the best book written on the Chronology of Christ to date in the history of the church. I would recommend that you get the book and read it.
