If the Higgs boson is, as we’ve been told, THE definitive or “GOD” particle, then how is it that it only helps them understand and doesn’t completely answer the question of how the universe came to be. Is there another particle yet to be found which will supersede the “ultimate” one?
Forget the “god” particle nonsense, it’s just sensationalism. This is just another particle, it isn’t the ultimate anything.
The “God particle” moniker was and is a journalistic construct (like “assault weapon”) based on a mistake by a journalist that got cemented in by repetition. Like “assault weapon”.
My father joined the National Guard in 1940. According to him the nickname “jeep” was applied to an Army staff car whose hood resembled the Popeye cartoon character “The Jeep”’s nose. Life Magazine did an article on “This is the Army” in which they misidentified the truck, quarter ton, 4 x 4 as “the jeep”. With the influx of millions of new soldiers into the Army with the onset of World War II, whose concept of the jeep was from the enormously influential Life Magazine, the misidentification stuck, unto this very day.
