The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you won’t be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isn’t asked.
It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread ... there is no telling where it will go and that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!

It’s blossom time here in the valley.. time to get cooking uhhh gardening.. no sales tax week-end at OSH,, time to get the veggies.. peace and out from a biodegradable environment we call home..
Bees seem to be doing OK here on the west coast,, perhaps good news for food consumers all over..
I’m eating all of mine I grow here but.. if the harvest is good,, nothing like passing on fresh from the garden booty. :-} GB backatcha

Not much is happening in my gardens.

I should say not. LOL. I will have a mess to clean up out doors. The lid blew off the trash cans, and one bag got dragged into the yard. Got to pick that up.
The other trashcan got filled with water which is still frozen solid. Not looking forward to that clean up once it softens a bit.
Ugggggh.
We had an unexpected day of high winds here in NC (Raleigh area)and my 6’x8’ greenhouse blew over, but not away (luckily).
I had a few celery starts in pots, but that was all, so no harm done. I’ll have to anchor it more securely, because this weekend I plan to start my tomatoes, peppers, pickle cucumbers, and squash. Out in the garden I’ll be planting the Pontiac red potatoes. It’s supposed to get to 71 degrees next Monday (warmest day this year by far). It’s been below freezing just about every night/morning for several weeks thru winter.
I’ve got 6 new apple trees and I’m hoping this has been a cold-enough winter season to satisfy their ‘chill-hours’ requirement. We’re in a 7-B zone.
I’ll say a little prayer for your area to receive the much needed rain.

We still have massive snow banks on most properties. Bare ground is not visible anywhere. The City snow plows “took out” my political signs. I don’t know if it was deliberate, but I have my suspicions. One candidate is for mayor against the incumbant. One candidate is for school board — against an incumbant. And the other sign was in favor of “Keep(ing) Christ in Christmas” that was frozen into the ground so hard that we couldn’t remove it.
I can see city workers “taking out” the signs opposing the mayor and the school board incumbants, but Christ? All I can say is that my candidates are in good company in their sacrifice.
Spring has sprung out here in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. I was wandering around the yard & wondering for the hundredth time how to get rid of onion grass? Any suggestions would be appreciated!
I am still waiting for the few plants I ordered to be delivered.
One good thing is we're catching lots of rain water in containers. Should keep the plants well watered for at least a week. I'd still like to pot a few bulbs this weekend if I have time.
Those high winds are really a challenge sometimes. Missouri has it’s share too. I am always thankful when our area only has high winds, because it could be worse.
People around our county refer to my town as “tornado alley”.
We’ve still got a huge mess from all the snow down here in CoMO, but it’s melting away now. I planted some garden in late March last year, don’t see that happening this time.
On the bright side, Mrs. Augie’s sun room is nearing completion. The carpenters said yesterday that most of their tools and mess would be leaving today.
Ahhhhhh..I hate that too! Spring cleaning the outdoors is not fun, but I always have such a sense of accomplishment when I finish picking up all the trash that was dumped, blew into the yard, or was just a part of our yearly struggle with winter. My husband once even saw someone stop his truck, take a couple of trash bags out of the back, and start to put it in our already full trash containers. When the man saw my husband watching him, he threw the bags back in his truck, jumped in, and sped away. :)

Oh, my goodness! I'm glad that you didn't lose it!
Hubby hasn’t started his seeds yet - it’s early days for that here.
I had developed a garden plan, but it got lost, and I can’t remember what it was, so I’ll have to redo it from scratch, unless it turns up in the next few weeks. I like to rotate the beds.
