You said it, meg-- I watched the Oscars for years starting in the 1950s back when I was knee-high to Mickey Rooney. Bob Hope was always funny and the stars were bigger than life. As the years passed by it was Johnny Carson who made us laugh. Real laughs out loud. Then came Billy Crystal and he kept up the fun of Oscar--
Then somehow we got David Letterman with his "Oprah...Uma. Uma...Oprah. Have you kids met Keanu?" and the only movie he was ever in was 1994's Cabin Boy, with Chris Elliott. Next came Whoopi-- And Ellen-- And tonight we got Neil Patrick Harris who I thought was pretty funny when he hosted the Tonys and Emmys. BUT tonight he is not funny at all.
And the PC Politics is rampant tonight, even to the "Hand Up!" lie living on in song and dance honor Dr. King who I suspect would shi-- Well, I don't think he would be happy with the way his memory is being perverted.
Yes, the Oscars are nothing like they were once were: fun and funny without politics.
Lastly, it drove my old pal Peter O'Toole... to quit drinking--
So, true, sweet, sweet Bendy, and I had to die... to keep from going to it sober!
