The scene opens with an "inner city yute" regarding the side of a building. In compressed time we then see the yute -- with several dozen spray paint cans magically appearing -- transforming the wall of a building into an enormous, incoherent "mural" of some creature vomiting colors. The yute then stands back, admiring his work, while the announcer praises him and offers the viewer the opinion that being a city-class vandal is the key into getting into college.
This piece of visual trash is brought to us by knowhow2go, which informs us:
"Young people in all socio-economic groups have college aspirations. In fact, eight out of 10 expect to attain a bachelor's degree or higher, according to the U.S. Department of Education. But despite their aspirations, low-income students and those who are the first in their families to pursue higher education are severely underrepresented on college campuses. Studies show these students often lack the guidance they need to prepare for postsecondary education... In order to turn these students' college dreams into action-oriented goals, the American Council on Education, Lumina Foundation for Education and the Ad Council launched the KnowHow2GO campaign in January 2007. This multiyear, multimedia effort includes television, radio and outdoor public service advertisements (PSAs) that encourage 8th through 10th graders to prepare for college using four simple steps."
Not a hint of irony here, one notes. That if you are a well-enough motivated vandal and criminal, this is the key to getting into college. One would be fascinated to learn the graduation rate of such talented "yutes." One IS very unhappy to learn that funding for this scam is obtained from grants from the federal government -- our taxes.
Unless, of course, you deface a mural of Dear Leader. Then, it’s a felony!
The ponzi scheme of higher edumacation continues. We MUST encourage graffiti tagger gansta thugs to get a degree in such crap. Where else is Obama going to get his next street team?
Up is down
Light is dark
wron is right
evil is good
Not only that, but the kid’s a litterbug to boot. Take note of all the empty spray paint cans on the ground when he’s done. This one never fails to leave me shaking my head in disgust.
