South of Norman and you can have it all.
The OKC area is windy, right in the middle of tornado alley, and flat as a pancake.
But...it is populated by some of the nicest folks on the planet.
Methinks you’ll get directed to a great place to live, and you’ll like it.
Edmond is always a good choice especially with kids.
Don’t neglect to check out Mustang and Yukon on the west side of the city. I lived there for several years and liked those communities.
Since they’re on the southwest side a job in the northeast side of the city would be a long commute. The city is massive in area.
Downtown to Mustang is twenty minutes in light traffic, 30-45 in heavy traffic.

Edmond OK is a bedroom suburb of OKC and has the best schools in the Metro Area. You might want to look at the dvelopments of Shadow Lake and Shadow Lake Estates that are located just north (1/4 mile) of Waterloo Road and East of Santa Fe Ave (Prices in $250K range and Up). There are beautiful homes on Acre sites in this area and you enjoy the advantages of living in the City of Edmond, but you are actually just inside Logan County and not subject to the City Taxes and Regulations of OK County and the city of Edmond. Your Water is on a well which saves you a lot of money in the Summer. I recommned you check it out (30 Minutes from anywhere in OKC).
I grew up in Edmond. You can’t go wrong there.
I grew up in the OKC metro. Here’s some thoughts...
Edmond — This is where a lot of wealthy people live. A college town. Good shopping. Lots of opportunities to get a business going.
Shawnee — Home of the *EXCELLENT* Oklahoma Baptist University. (I’m a tiny bit biased.) OBU is one of the highest ranked schools in the region, a real hidden gem. If your boys might someday head off to college, this would be one to look at.
Mustang — I grew up in Mustang. Mustang feels more like country than city, but it’s close enough so you can drive to the downtown area in about 25 minutes. Mustang is worth going to take a look.
Norman — Home of the University of Oklahoma.

I would go for Edmond and then, also, go to Faith Bible Church there, where Dr. Mark Hitchcock is the pastor.

If this is a requirement I suggest you get a place outside of any city limits. I live in NE Canadian county outside of Piedmont and an pretty much free to do as I please with my property. As my neighbor put it when I move here, “you can run around her with your hair on fire if you want to.”
If you must move to OKC. I would highly recommend Southwest Baptist Church.

I lived there 7 years and we loved it. Wonderful people, good school, taxes lower than OKC, open spaces.
Shawnee and 'specially Guthrie are nice towns, or they were the last time I checked but... a long drive awaits you.
