I just lost my job last Friday. I have a Petroleum Engineering degree and a Civil Engineering license. I have over 12 years experience in Geotechnical work. I'm proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and several Engineering programs. I also know how to work manual labor for 12 hour shifts or more.
What I'm talking about is folks here who actually have connections with people who are HIRING. Since this is a free-market conservative website with conservative business people, I would hope some of you could get me in touch with the actual folks who hire. My family and I desperately need me to get a job.
Seems to be a bunch of work here in Fort Collins, CO.
A lot better weather than ND and prettier than TX
Good. Anybody I can call, write, or e-mail?
This will be interesting as I proposed a similar question that got removed....
How I wish I was in your position.
The important question is, does anyone know of available housing in the Bakken region? Rentals now cost almost as much as prime Chicago.
Good luck.
We’re preparing for an even bigger boom in West TX; big clineshale discovery. I think Devon Energy may be hiring, but I don’t have any connections there. If I remember anymore I’ll mail you.
thackney might have a pointer...
What say you thackney, any ideas?
.
There are always a lot of oilfield jobs around here in NE Texas. We have a big job and services expo coming up in a little over a month you may want to check it out.

You already have to be connected with the industry to get tickets but if you can get in it will be a killer event to network at.
Yeah that’s what I’ve heard. The Cline Shale formation is bigger than Eagle Ford or the Baaken. It may be cheaper to drill too than eagle ford.
I know there is a lot going on here in San Antonio due to Eagle Ford play south of town here. I suggest getting in contact w/ the Society of Petroleum Engineers, specifically the San Antonio branch. They should have an inside track on this stuff. They are real short of CDL HAZ certified drivers here as well.
Marathon had tons of jobs in ND and Texas.

bump for later
Do you have a preference as to heat exhaustion or freezing your ass off?
Weatherford also is on a hiring boom.

Change your Freeper location to Texas and ask on the state board, perhaps?
I wish you the very best.
lots of people are going to Victoria Texas to work the Eagle Ford shale. Rooms at Hampton Inn are $189 a night. a house in Victoria sells in an average of 32 hours.
We have a plant there and I just heard this from one of our people that was just there. Hope you have an RV or something to sleep in. good Luck
I don’t have any contacts but I bet there are oil workers links everywhere. I’ve only been here for 1.5 years but I like it quite a bit.
Denver is not too exciting but Fort Collins/Loveland is very nice.

You have to register (free) for an account to be able to search for jobs, and I can't link to my search results, but my search for "Petroleum Engineers" returned 478 possibilities all over Texas. Good luck :-)
