Police in Florida said they have arrested a man accused of stealing a $1.29 Iced Honey Bun from a store by stuffing it down his pants.
Palm Bay police said Brandon Phillips, 18, stuffed the small snack down his sweatpants at a 7-Eleven store Dec. 28 and fled on a bicycle when confronted by a store manager, WKMG-TV, Orlando, reported Friday.
Investigators said a K-9 unit tracked Phillips to a wooded lot where he was arrested and his bike was found nearby.
The Honey Bun was not recovered, police said.
Phillips was charged with retail petit theft, resisting arrest without violence and resisting in the recovery of merchandise.
Did anyone really want it at that point?
lol. I’d say not.
Instead of putting this guy in jail and going through the courts for $1.29, there should be a way where the store and petty thief simply agree to let the guy wash the windows and pick up the trash for a half an hour or something.
Why spend thousands of taxpayer dollars on a case like this?
The kid is lucky he didn’t take donuts and really piss off the cops.
Boy, you want some Honey Bun you got’s to get a flashy car, not a bicycle.
Law and Order, man, LAW AND ORDER!!!
;-)
lolznodor
I was thinking more or less the same thing.
Because he’s a no good thief. And making him wash windows or pay just turns it into a game. If you get away, cool. If you get caught, you pay.
Maybe because a risk of a half hour of washing windows isn’t much of a deterent?
I don’t expect to see the guy going to jail.
Jean Valjean! Les Miserables...
I guess if he had a bunch of priors, sure.
But in isolation it makes no sense to spend thousands to lock this moron up.
turn this into the next OJ trial
lol
Now that hostess is gone, it was probably one of those crappy Little Debbie frosted honeybuns.
They are not worth $1.29. His real crime is wanting to steal it. There are so many better breakfast cake treats to steal.
Give him 20 to life.
He shoulda told the cops his name was David Gregory.
The punk thief needs to be spanked hard.
Ask Rudy Giuliani how he cut crime in NYC and he'll tell you it's because he cleaned up the petty scum first.
