Ding! Ding! Ding!
“Only Angels Have Wings” is one of my favorite movies of all time. Or as I think of it, “Calling Barranca.”
It’s best on a rainy afternoon, or late at night.
It was a WWII-prep movie. If you squint, you can se that it’s a war movie, without the war. I think it was made to start to get across the mindset necessary for Americans to deal with WWII. A lot of Bogey movies are like that, too.
I don’t know why it takes me away, it just does. I also got to see it on a big screen once, in an old theater. Loved it!
Saw it on the 19 inch screen for the first time in the last year or two. Great flick.
It’s a great movie. Saw it for the first time just a few years ago. The dialogue is just fantastic.
Cool! OAHW would be a good film to see on a big screen in an old theater. I got to see “Casablanca” that way for the first time. And your point about OAHW being a war movie without the war is on-target. It and “Raiders of the Lost Ark” were the inspiration for the later TV series “Tales of the Gold Monkey.”
