NEW YORK, - The Zagat restaurant review service said the results of its first-ever Pizza Survey indicate U.S. diners eat pizza an average 4.3 times per month.
The website said its survey found 83 percent of respondents counted pizza as among their favorite foods and indicates the average U.S. consumer eats pizza an average 4.3 times per month.
Zagat said pepperoni was the favorite topping in the survey, with 38 percent of respondents naming it as their preferred pizza topper. Anchovies were the least favorite, with 34 percent saying they are not fans.
New York-style thin crust pizza was the favorite pizza style, with 38 percent choosing it over brick oven style, which received 23 percent support; Neapolitan style, which was preferred by 13 percent of respondents; and Chicago deep dish, which was chosen by 8 percent of those polled.
The website did not release the methodology of the survey or a margin of error.

A survey of college students would reveal they eat pizza about 4.3 times a day.

That’s about all the basic food groups except fruit.

There's an average I meet or exceed every month! Every Friday lunch is Pizza Friday, and I probably get a take-out pizza two or three times a month as well.
Its good food, it has all the food groups in it, and of course it tastes good. No doubt the NannyStaters will see this study as a reason to ban Pizza. Its for the Children!

grains, veggies, dairy, meat all in one ? What’s not to like ?
Real pizza is good for ya. Unlike the freezer section reheated cardboard.
Stay safe Joe !

My son eats pizza every day for lunch. He’s very thin and very healthy. The key is to eat just one slice.

Is that for here or to go? Doesn't say.
Once a week wifey doesn't want to cook. So I bring home pizza for us both.
I don't see it as a problem.

I haven’t gotten a pizza...even a frozen pizza... in maybe 4 years.

One night Pizza Hut showed uncharacteristically bad customer service towards me...and I responded by going to Domino’s, who treated me even worse. And I said, a pox on both their houses.
Hot pizza is a luxury item, and customer service is everything. Besides, I’m overweight, so I never did let myself eat that much pizza in the first place...a really negative experience like that, and it’s easy to cross it off my list.

I love pizza, but for me, I might as well just cut it into long strips and paste it onto my waistline. Carb pig-out festival to the nth degree.

New York style pizza was voted the best? Why?
It’s thin greasy crust and watery sauce.
Give me Chicago style pizza, both deep dish and regular any day of week.
