Fareed looks at why the optimistic Republican Party of Ronald Reagan seems to have swapped places with the glum Democratic Party of the 1970s and 1980s. Today it is the Republican Party that often seems angry with America, Fareed says. Read the best-selling books by conservatives these days, watch Fox News or attend a Tea Party rally. They are filled with rage, often combined with a powerful nostalgia for an America that has gone away.

Is that Fareed’s own essay or did he lift it from somewhere?
Did you intend to say “anxious” about having the 50% of Americans on the government tit voting for MORE taxpayer money? After all, they can vote over and over and over.
“Tea Party rally. They are filled with rage,”
Compared to what? An OWS rally?
Just another lib fantasy. Nothing to see here.
..........whatever.
Ha ha. These left-wingers crack me up. “Isn’t it odd that, just because we’ve forced socialism and immorality down the throats of the majority of the population using judicial fiat and mob intimidation, that they seem to be so angry now?” It’s like burning somebody’s house down right in front of them and then asking, “Why so glum?”
Beat me to it!!!
Anyone who cares what this worm “supposedly” writes or thinks is wasting their time.
Comes from the Communist News Network. Go figure. No bias here!
Rage?! At a TEA party? Perhaps a lot of anger for having our future and our kids future and our jobs stolen and handed over to people who will not work just to buy votes.
And the Democratic voting block will be happy for now, partying and with their tax-free existance, welfare support money and free housing and free cell phones and free food. The Democrat controlled loosers will have a fine time of it, till the economy crashes. THEN you will see Rage, and lots of it, when those who refuesed to work, and gain skills see their “entitlements” fade like fog on a hot summer day.
Yeah, there is a lot of RAGE coming, but not Republican.
I don’t recall Dems being “glum” in the 70s and 80s. They were righteous and angry in the 70s, histrionic in the 80s.
I think it’s a mistake for Zakaria to characterize Reagan’s perspective as “optimism”. Reagan wasn’t a meliorist.
And although I did feel a few moments of optimism for the US under Reagan, Bush I, and even Bush II, I have long believed that, having cut loose of Constitution moorings, our political system was living on borrowed time.
It’s a much different country since Reagan’s time....look at the demographics, and now look at who controls our media.
This is the new talking point to help 0bama win. They are going to paint conservatives as angry radicals, when in fact that is what the Democrats are. This is classic Alinsky. Why don't people wake up to this deception?
Not only must we accept what they are doing to our country, we must be happy about it.
Where do all these Fareeds, Mohammeds and shahids spring from? Anyone know?
Hayseed Fakeria has never attended a Tea Party meeting. So the only way he could write that the Tea Party was angry is to follow his masters instructions to write that. The guy is a hack and one of the bottom feeding attempts a being a journalist.
From parents who are closely related to one another, generally first cousins, but sometimes men marry their neices.
Seriously. You asked. Look it up. They have family trees like telephone poles.
I would like to post something long and meaningful...but I am afraid Zakaria would plagarize it
Fareed is a fag.
