Thanks for the ping Slings and Arrows, and to address xrmusn this is indeed a sad day for you. We know the heartbreak of having no alternative but to euthanize a loved pet such as “Cat”. It’s never possible to actually accept that is what must be done, but it always is.

We always talk between ourselves about the great times we had with the particular critter that we currently had no choice but to put down. It helps us to get through the moment, and onto the next day. We get our tears over with by remembering the joy they were. Works for us.

We’ve been married almost 35 years now, and have had more than 35 cats, and more than 35 dogs as well as horses, donkeys, ducks, and on, and on the list goes. We’ve seen a lot of these days. They’re never good. Only necessary for the comfort of our pets that are either critically ill, or terminal.

Prayers for you, and for Cat, and it would be a good idea to replace “Cat” with a new friend ASAP. Preferably a young’un that you can draw close to you as was “Cat”. The older they are the more difficult it is to draw them to you we have learned. Some do without a problem, but there’s less guarantee of that special bond with an older cat that you had with “Cat”.

Have had two of those. Won’t get another. Breaks too often.

Thank you, dear lady. Fortunately, he went really fast in the end. He was
his usual self one day, and he stopped eating and drinking the next, and
died overnight the next night, even though we tried to keep him hydrated.

I believe that he is in the hands of God, for he was a good boy.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss of Cat. Please don't blame yourself - they can get into all kinds of things we never even imagine could hurt them. Another kitteh IS a cure for a broken heart. After we lost our Emily (15 years), I did not think I was ready to love another I missed her so much. But my wonderful husband knew me better and within two weeks we had a new kitten, Stella, who is now nine. She healed my heart, she really did. Don't wait, go to your nearest shelter and give a kitteh a new and loving home. I'll bet there is one there right now ESPECIALLY waiting for you.

Love it! It’s as if they think, “Could be food, don’t risk not knowing!”

I sincerely want to thank all for their condolences etc.

The best thing I will remember about ‘Cat’ (well one of the things) is that EVERYTIME BO came on the screen or opened his lyin’ mouth SHE RAN out of the room

I guess she ‘picked up’ my distaste for the poseur pResident because when I spot or hear him, I reach for the remote amidst ‘screams’ of STFU FU etc etc etc.... <:

I think I have already found a ‘new friend’ I don’t think, deep down, that we ever replace them etc etc...

The Vet I had sent me a Condolence Card signed by the staff...Nice gesture since it is the first time I stepped in the door....but naturally, if at all possible, it won’t be the last - that is if absolutely necessary.

They also include a ‘Prayer Card’ with the Poem ‘The Rainbow Bridge’, which really (helps) handles the loss etc...
If wanted, I will put a copy up.

Thanks again.

I became part the cat staff by accident. Brought in two strays one year apart. They are more or less housebound. Since I was always a dog guy, I would have never believed the affection I have for my two cats. I empathize with your loss.

Please feel better.

Poor baby. Yes, that was a mercy. I know you’re missing him.

I’ve read more than one Bible scholar who believes God may have our beloved pets waiting for us in Heaven. I choose to believe that.
