CNN have reportedly been informed of the contents of emails between top Penn State officials that allege a cover-up of a 2001 incident involving Jerry Sandusky, and the messages seem to implicate that it was Joe Paterno's idea to not report Sandusky

Bummer to see an icon go down in flames - assume personal loyalty trumped morality.
“I would be more comfortable meeting with the person.. tell him the information we received... and tell him we are aware of the first situation.”
That reads to me as an admission by Curley that they did know about the 1998 incident.
Penn State fans, not to worry: obama will issue an Executive Privilege order covering Paterno’s communications.
My opinion of MeQueary has improved somewhat after reading this article. He was probably too shocked to beat the crap out of Sandusky and did go to Paterno. It now appears that Paterno, Curly and the President of the school - a noted homosexual promoting individual - wanted to cover up Sandusky’s crimes.
I stand vindicated. Called that scumbag out when the scandal first broke. Those “Joe Pa” cultists need to find another idol to worship.
In Texas, the law is if a teacher knows of child abuse they must report it or they can be charged. Yes, different state and different laws.
If this true I do not know how Penn State fans especially in Central PA where everything was tied to Pateron will do. Will the University remove his name from the library and the statues of Paterno leading his players onto the field?
Nothing went on that paterno didnt know about. There were way too many instances involving sandusky through the years to make anyone think that paterno didnt know exactly what was going on.They need to bulldoze the entire college into fields because the stain and the smell will never leave.
I wonder what kind of impact this would have had on the Sandusky trial if it had come out earlier.
I am with you on this one. I got tired of trying to point out that “Joe Pa” had to have been aware. Nothing went on at that school, especially within the sports program, that he didn’t know about. It doesn’t matter what good he did, he allowed his morality, ethics and character to hold a back seat to his reputation.
If they were real heroes then all of the major sports organizations would have shut down after 9/11 and thousands of those athletes would have joined our special forces and their help along with that of millions of home based Americans would have truly won the War on Terror. Instead, we have an entire country of people who have forgotten the thousands of dead and tens of thousands of wounded and psychologically damaged. Most combat vets can't even find a damn job, because most hiring managers have absolutely no patriotism and no comprehension of the sacrifice of service.
Here's a discussion topic: Joe Paterno, Paul Bryant, and the doctrine of Papal Infallibility.
If the way you feel on Sunday depends on how your team played on Saturday, you have a problem.
This is another reason buildings/highways/bridges, etc. should not be named for nor statues made of people until a reasonable time after their deaths. Never while they aretill alive. It’s just vulgar.
“Yes, different state and different laws.”
The laws may vary from state to state, but the morally right thing to do does not.
They will keep putting their heads in the sand and deny the truth. They don’t, and didn’t, want to acknowledge the obvious from the very beginning. I am from Pennsylvania and have many friends who went to Penn State. Luckily for me, none of them have been in denial because they don’t idol worship. On the other hand, there were a few here on FR that wouldn’t listen to logic and reason when this story broke.
If this is all true, did Sandusky go through with treatment? If not, it sounds as though the plan was to go to authorities.
This is the Catholic Church method of dealing with sex abuse. I wouldn’t be surprised if Paterno had talked it over with his priest.
I’m surprised no one’s come out in defense of Sandusky by saying it was “natural” and he “could not help it” (although I’m sure many lefties are whispering it).
Read it & weep.
