I guess the madness will continue until they catch up to Chrome’s version numbers. *ugh*
I’ve used Firefox since release 3, but starting around release 10 it has stopped playing nice with Adobe PDF files. A crash or two a day occurs, always when a PDF file does not open, although the file that crashed FireFox always opens perfectly with Internet Explorer.
Sill use Firefox but it’s frustrating at times with the PDF crashes.
Why does it seem like there is a new version every three months?
I love the functionality of FF, but it is such a slow and sluggish browser compared to Chrome or Opera. It’s a resource hog.
Overall, I like FF the best, but I wish it were faster.
Waiting for the Mac version...
Because you skip over every other version. :)
It’s a huge memory hog compared to others.
Opera is cleaner but I’m not fond of the layout.
Anyone have a recommended plug in replacement for Foxytunes? Every time Firefox updates Foxytunes can’t be used.
Well, there is Safari .... why in Jobs’ name would you want anything else??
Well DUH! Apple isn’t anywhere near as communist as Mozilla!
Try the add on “PDF Download” by Nitro, it may help....
Even Georg Cantor thinks they are going to run out of version numbers soon.
Works fine, both Windows and OSX. Still getting security updates.
In fact, I HAVE to use FF 3.5 on one Windows machine at work, because it's the last FF version to support the ancient Java version required by some of my old Cisco security devices' firmware.
These frequent major-number releases are silly. They should be minor-number. Nobody but hardcore users takes this release crap seriously anyway.
I mean, really...
Consider, Microsoft Office is up to release 14 already, with 15 on the way. Although, to be fair, Microsoft skipped over versions "5", "6", and "13" to get there. They skipped 5 and 6 so that they could sync all the individual product versions at "7".
They probably skipped "13" for the same reason most buildings don't have a 13th floor... LOL.
Because there has been a new version almost every month since last June.
Strange but true.
“They probably skipped “13” for the same reason most buildings don’t have a 13th floor... LOL. “
That’s exactly right:

Same here.

No longer; I got the notice last week that they had ceased security updates for the 3.6 version (with 3.6.28) and that as of tomorrow (4/24) no further updates will be provided. Further in that notice they said they would give one more warning and then would automatically update to the latest Firefox (apparently whether I liked it or not!). I promptly went to my options [tools-options-advanced] and turned off the "automatically check for updates" buttons. I know I will have to update, but have too many nice addons that I use daily, including with FR, that I will lose.
IE-8? Bloatware. Chrome? Google spyware. I'll stay where I am for right now.
