'Titanic' Theme Song Makes Me Want To Throw Up, Kate Winslet Says
By Rene Lynch April 15, 2012
And the Oscar for the most refreshingly candid actress goes to ... "Titanic" star Kate Winslet!
Check out the above video of Winslet making the media rounds in advance of the re-release of "Titanic," the mega-blockbuster that made her a household name and earned her an Academy Award nomination for best actress. Winslet had two options going into this interview. She could have done the whole Hollywood-smiley-face thing and gushed on and on about how the 1997 movie changed her life, about how much she loves it, about the on-screen magic she shared with co-star Leonardo DiCaprio ... blah, blah, blah.
Or Winslet could have told it like it is.
Winslet said that she feels "like throwing up" when she hears the soaring theme song of "Titanic." In fact, she said, the signature Celine Dion ballad "haunts" her.
"I wish I could say, 'Oh listen everybody! It's the Celine Dion song!' But I don't. I just have to sit there, you know, kinda straight-faced, with a massive internal eye roll," she said.
It's no wonder she feels that way: "My Heart Will Go On" follows Winslet wherever she goes.
"Every time I go into either some kind of a bar in a hotel where there's a live pianist or into a restaurant where they are changing their music according to who walks in the door ... it's thrilling for people to 'surprise' me with the Celine Dion song," she said. (snip)
"It rather haunts me," she said of the song. "Bless you, Celine, but it does rather haunt me."

Ditto, Kate. Ditto
Just happened to see this come up.
I can’t blame her, but then, that actually is typical Hollywood - despise the 1 huge thing in your career that made your career. Happens with all of them - they want to “get beyond” that big moment, big break. Christopher Reeve didn’t like being Superman, blah blah blah....
I prefer the Tom Petty “Titanic Song.”
Titanic, what a really great song
Titanic, that boat was long
Titanic, Celine Dion should be chained to the
Ti-Tan-Ick!
The ending made me sick. The very last minute of the movie where she threw the diamond in to the ocean. Disgusting, feed some starving children or something.
This movie has been out for some time and if you think I am giving spoilers, I am going to take one from the folks at Penny Arcade. Huge spoiler on the Bible. Jesus dies at the end!
She is what my mother would have called an ingrate.
She probably heard it about a billion times when making the movie. There are very few songs I can listen to over and over without wanting to not hear it again ever.

Yeah? the whole *MOVIE* and you in it makes me want to throw up.
If you think that is what happened at the end, you are wrong and you never have read the Bible. That was not the end of the story. Jesus died for your sins so that you may have eternal life, BUT He was resurrected from the dead, to prove God has power over death. Death could not hold Jesus in the grave. Jesus is alive!
I wasI have spent my life since avoiding it wherever possible. I wished to go down in history as the man who died with the least knowledge of it.
And you just ruined my perfect record. Thank you. But my heart will go on ;)
We just finished watching the whole Titanic thing. Sort of interesting but even my engineer husband agrees that its all a bit gay.
The sappy Titanic song will go on and on!

Maybe she would like Peter Paul and Marys version.
Could be worse. It could have been “You light up my life”.
I thought the last song the band on the Titanic played was “Nearer My God to Thee”.
New research shows it was actually Celine Dion singing “My Heart Will Go On”, and that is when the ship broke in two, forward of the third funnel.
I'm just a regular slob so this concept fascinates me. There are bars, restaurants, hotels which change music according to who is walking in? Where and who? I would think that there are very few people who actually have their own "theme song".
You are correct, she is an ingrate; the movie has made her MILLIONS of dollars, she is an international star and famous world-wide. She reminds me of another ingrate: a girl named Fox who bit the hand that fed her and made her a star... where is she today? Nowheresville.
