A New Way to Blow Off Steam in Vegas

Only time I was in Las Vegas was about ten years ago, and the only thing I wanted to do was shoot a Thompson at The Gun Store. And I did.

Shooting machine guns sounds fun but I would not be going there.

Shot the Tompson and then the M249SAW when I was there a few years ago. Still have the target I shot with the SAW. A Lot of fun.

The perfectly rational posts on this string so far i think miss the point of this story, which is that it reveals the Times’ view of (a) flyover country in general and (b) the barbarians who reside there and want to shoot automatic weapons, pay scantily clad women who walk around in tights and (c) would, if they could, drink while they were shooting. The people who’ve posted thus far have just commented on the weapons used — as if that were a reasonable discussion to have. It is, of course, but from the perspective of the New York Times and the vast majority of its readers, these comments only reveal how backward and benighted we all are.

I’m most definitely up for one of these places (there’s like five or six now in Vegas, I think). I also love the fact that the writer correctly used the term magazine and not “clip” for the mags in pic 6.

The opening line made me laugh, though - “for Vegas die-hards bored with the $750 tasting menu at Guy Savoy.” I get that Vegas has become home to some really high-end restaurants, and if that’s where someone wants to spend their money, it ain’t no concern of mine. But I gotta tell ya, I rarely spend more than 10 bucks for a meal in Vegas. I’m there for the shows and the gambling, and I’m just as happy to fuel up with a plate of authentic Mexican food from Tacos Mexico as drop big money on Spagos or what not.

Do they still have that wind tunnel where you can fly?
There’s no place like Vegas, there’s no place like Vegas, there’s no...place...like...Vegas...

The second amendment says that I have a right to a gun. I want to be able to go to this place as often as I like and have the ACLU pay for it. Two can play that silly game Ms. Fluke.

Here is a true story about me, a machine gun, and an indoor range.... :)

Back in the 80’s you could rent a full auto .45 MAC-10 with a full 30 round clip at our local range for $20. It had a big suppressor on the end so you held the barrel down with your hand on it.
Never having fired one before, I figured that for $20 I would just hold the trigger and spray the heck out of the target....
Well, I pulled the trigger and in 3 1/2 seconds, burrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrp, that thing walked me back a few feet and I proceeded the shred the ceiling tiles. It looked like popcorn coming down... LOL!!!!! There were only two bullet holes in the man target down range.
I hear the owner yell “Son Of A Bi..ch!” and he came in screaming at me. He should of warned me about the recoil. Heck all the girls on TV shoot them with one hand.
Anyway, I was banned from the range after that. My buddies split a gut laughing at me, and I have to admit, it was rather funny..... ;)

Heck, there are a number of such ranges in the LV area, indoor and out. Fun shooting, BTW.

indoor shooting range complete with skimpily dressed, gun-toting hostesses

Why are these things always geared for men?? The Gun Store is always one of my stops when I’m in Vegas, but I would rather see hunks in shorts.
