Singer Davy Jones of The Monkees has died of a heart attack at 66, the medical examiner's office in Martin County, Fla., has confirmed to NBC News. A statement issued by the medical examiner's office says that Jones complained Wednesday morning that he wasn't feeling well and was having trouble breathing. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No suspicious circumstances surrounded his death, and his family has been notified. He is survived by his wife, Jessica, and four daughters.

My sister liked Mickey better, but not today.
Flags flown at half-staff?
“I AM standing!”
Rather for him than Whitney. At least he was not a train wreck.
I don't have a problem with the States making that decision.
*sigh* I had such a crush on Davy.
Bought my very first record album in summer 1968. It was by the Monkees...paid $2.35 at the BX...Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, TX. Remember it as though it were only “yesterday.” As an impressionable twelve-year old, I was absolutely, totally in love with The Monkees. My oh my...where has the time gone!
RIP Davy Jones Thanks for the memories.
The Monkees music sounds as good today as when it was recorded. Their tv show is classic.
Then I saw her face....now I’m a believer...
I must be about the same age as you! I remember buying albums w/my 2-yrs.-younger sister and fan magazines w/his and other Monkees pictures. I didn’t realize, or hadn’t heard of any health problems he had recently. I did read that Peter Tork had a rare cancer in back of his tongue, and had surgery. I was worried it would be him; but I think he’s doing better now.
This just stinks; I didn’t realize Davey was in such shape! I do remember him having some health issues several years ago. He had a problem with pain pills (I think), he had fallen, and was injured. He also had a drinking problem, but seemed to be over it, some of those stories could’ve been rumors, I don’t know for sure. He was a horse-race jockey at one time as well so they could be true, at least in part.
I read he had just remarried for the 3rd time just a few years ago. I’d like to think he had a few years of marital happiness before he went, God bless him. Also, God Bless his family and his fellow Monkees! I think they’re going to miss him! I do hope it won’t stop the survivors in the band to completely give up their concerts!
Damn,
I was hoping for a reunion.
Dear Matt Drudge...you are a pinhead today...the news of Davy Jones’ death was worthy of the flashing siren.
Anytime I hear the Monkees...I get a smile on my face, and ma blasted back 40 years to a much simpler life.
So for the love of mike never complain that you're not feeling well and having trouble breathing. If you do they will pronounce you dead without further ado.
One article I read today said he was in great shape, “not an ounce of fat on him”, total vegetarian (hmmm . . . ) and ran several miles each day. When your number’s up, it’s up.
I was just listening to that one recently! My younger daughter (now going on 31)was named, partly, on that song! My sister and I were singing that together for the fun of it on Christmas a couple of years ago, and our “Valerie” (diff. spelling)was listening, and she laughed and said: “I’m gonna go and find that song!”! She was curious!
I don’t know if she ever did, she gets real busy between work, school and her kids, she might have forgotten. She is our family’s computer and internet expert (more or less), and she knows where to find and down-load songs to listen to, inexpensively!
