Colbert turns the tables on Jewish dead baptism.
Funny
I am glad the NT is clear that you have to believe before baptism. There is no post-houmous baptism for the Christian.
actually, you don’t. They baptize everyone. But, belief after death is the key for it to “take”. That what you meant?
I’ve been wondering if the Mormons have baptized Jesus Christ. I bet they have - probably in some secret ceremony in Salt Lake.
All dead mormons are now JEWS, hotdog!!! Serves them right.
Classic. He circumcises all the dead Mormons in order to make them Jews.
Well played.

Yes they did, several times actually - and ‘endowed’ him and married him off to at least 3 wives.
These listings at the “familysearch” are pretty funny.
I thought Santa Claus was a hoot but they actually list God Almighty.

Wow, unbelievable!
Yes
I used to live near a Mormon library and go there to do genealogical research. From the library you could hear the soundtrack from the visitors' center and I must have heard mention of that verse dozens of times.
It's the reason why they have an interest in genealogy--and they let non-Mormons use their facilities free of charge.
My take on it is that baptizing dead people by proxy doesn't do them any good and doesn't do them any harm, so why should non-Mormons worry about it?
Did he vote ?

i don’t know Blue, but the way things are going probably and more than once.
I don’t usually get into the Mormomon threads because I think it could backfire on us, but I am not willing to stand by and see Santorum bashed for his Christian beliefs while Romney gets away with redefining Mormon beliefs to sound more reasonable.
Has everyone seen the new explanations for some of the nuttier Mormon beliefs and practices? The long underwear are now just symbolic religious garments, worn after some other ceremony (marrying the dead?). Anyway, they have a whole list of explanations, aimed at making Mormonism sound reasonable.
Can you furnish some links for the new explanations? If you don't want to post it in the forum, feel free to send it to me via FReepmail. Thanks.
I can’t find the exact article, maybe because the internet is so full of Mormons trying to rationalize their beliefs and practices.
Here is one on the Mormon underwear being symbolic. I chose this one because at the end, it mentions that Mormons are not permitted to discuss the true meaning behind the symbolism with outsiders.

Black clothes are also known to Jews as a symbolic expression divrai yirah shomayim, which means fearing heaven. To some Jews life is very serious and the Jew is always conscious of his relationship to Gd. Therefore black is worn so as to avoid frivolity and also place distance between the wearer and everyone else.
