UCLA has fired coach Rick Neuheisel after four seasons in charge of his alma mater. Neuheisel will be allowed to coach the Bruins (6-6, 5-4 Pac-12) in Friday's Pac-12 title game at Oregon, the school announced Monday. Offensive coordinator Mike Johnson will be the Bruins' interim coach if they earn a bowl berth. Neuheisel is 21-28 since taking over the program in 2008, never building the momentum he needed to reach his goal of challenging Southern California for city supremacy. UCLA made it to just one bowl game in his first three seasons, winning the EagleBank Bowl in Washington, D.C., in 2009. The Bruins will represent the Pac-12 South in the inaugural league title game on Friday despite finishing two games behind postseason-banned USC in the division standings.

And take those stupid white uniforms and helmets with you!
...they go with Notre Dame’s giant shamrock.
I knew how this was going to end based on Slick Rick’s tenure at CU.
Losing a game 50-0 on national TV will do that to you
He’s still a better coach than Will Muschump.
I’ll never forget when Bob Boyd coached his last game against UCLA (basketball). All the UCLA fans did was chant “Boyd’s last game!” as they blew out USC.
No clue how much blame Rick deserves, but UCLA should be a perennial football power (as it should be in basketball, and currently also isn’t). I can’t understand why such a beautiful campus with such resources $$$$ can’t do MUCH better, consistently.
Always wondered who would go first - Skippy or Kiffin.
We will take him back - after all he was our “coach in waiting”.
You can have him.
It was painfully obvious to anyone who watched the USC-UCLA game on Saturday that had it not been the fact that the Trojans are on probation it would have been them rather than the Bruins in the championship game. It looks like USC is nearly back to the level of dominance they had in the Pete Carroll years and will contend for the NC next year.
And you can also have that fat tub of lard, Weis.
Why the hurry. Oregon will kick their butt Friday night. They could have waited until Saturday.
Sometimes a team will rally around a lame duck coach. Figures it gives UCLA a little more of a chance to pull off the upset.
If Barkley and some receivers return, then I think you’re right (despite 3 more years of ludicrous recruiting sanctions).
I remember when UCLA was good. They need to find another Terry Donahue.
Jabba the hut?
Barkley is the question mark. Lee and Woods are freshman plus they have others redshirted. It looks USC stockpiled enough talent in the last two classes to get them over their sanctioned recruiting years. Besides the schollies they will offer will be to the serious blue-chip player who will sign on. They will get by with quality versus quantity.
