State medical authorities have suspended the license of a Snohomish County surgical assistant accused of playing with the nipple of an unconscious female patient during a breast reconstruction surgery.
Stanley Romes, a surgical technologist, was assisting on a surgery at a Swedish Medical Center outpatient clinic in April of 2010. The patient was undergoing reconstructive surgery of one of her breasts, after having a mastectomy. During the procedure, the surgeon saw Romes touching the woman's nipple and asked what he was doing, according to state officials.
"After being questioned by the surgeon, (Romes) laughed and continued playing with the patient's nipple," officials said in an administrative charging document.
Health officials suspended Romes' license for six months and said he must undergo a psycho-sexual evaluation before applying for reinstatement.

A psychosexual evaluation is an evaluation that focuses on the individuals sexual development, sexual history, paraphilic interests, sexual adjustments, risk level and victimology. To sum it up in lay person’s terms: he’s screwy but is he dangerous and screwy? Will he do this again? Does he only do things like this when a person is unconscious? Would he do more if given the opportunity?
