A girl with hair dyed cherry red wears goggles, a tight corset, a lacy Victorian dress and black military boots. Her friend, a gent, dons a top hat, an early 1900s gas mask, fingerless leather gloves and crimson canvas trousers. He holds a pistol that looks like a fusion between the Wild West and a 1950s sci-fi flick.
All of this is not some new fashion trend. It's Steampunk, and it's been around for a while.

I like these movements, and I find them to be conservative. The heart of Progressivism is the belief that “progress” is inevitable, along a path laid out by progressives. This is a creative reimagining of that path. It doesn’t condemn the past as being backwards, it respects it, and celebrates good parts of it, and reimagines the present and future along new paths. The present is a fork in the road, and our direction is always up to us.

Looks like soemthig right out of ‘Warehouse 13’ ... and I too love the steampunk stuff. It is both creative and retro, while not worshipping technology but forcing the utility side in a fictional/functional sort of way.

I need to make a big-honking steam gun for my costume -- and that could be done easily/cheaply enough from a nerf gun.
The real b*tch is trying to find a decent-enough looking holster to put it in!
