This is what happens when a mama cat gets too friendly with a wiener dog.

I had a cat with really short legs a few years ago. Stomach practically drug the ground. I named him Stumpy.

Blech, not a fan of dumpifying felines. Whoever it was who took a grotesque birth defect and bred it into one of God’s most elegant creations has done the world a disservice.

The Munchkin is the only breed of cat I dislike. It should never have been created. To take these wonderful little athletes, creatures of dance and pure movement, and turn it earthbound ... is really wrong.

Beautiful markings on that particular kitteh but oh how horrid what some “fancier” has done to felinekind in creating the munchkin breed!
Whoever thought to diminish the natural mechanical dynamo that is Cat-kind ought to be shot.

I know this is about cats, but we do have a Labrador/Dachsund mix dog named...what else!? “Shorty”. He’s all Lab, but close, REAL CLOSE to the ground.

Is a Munchin cat a specific breed of cat? I’ve never heard of it before.... (I learn new stuff everyday on FR)
To: momtothree
It’s a natural occurring mutation.
Several cat registries do not recognize the Munchkin: Fédération Internationale Féline, which refuses to recognise what they consider a breed based on a “genetic disease”, achondroplasia. The Governing Council of the Cat Fancy likewise refuses to recognise the breed, considering this breed and others like it to be “unacceptable” because they are based on an “abnormal structure or development”. The breed is also not recognized by the Cat Fanciers’ Association.
Apart from TICA, registries that recognize the breed includes The American Association of Cat Enthusiasts, UK’s United Feline Organization, the Southern Africa Cat Council, the Waratah National Cat Alliance in Australia, and Catz Incorporated in New Zealand.

Years ago, some nutcase in texas discovered that when you inbreed cats enough, their legs come out twisted and unusable...and sit and hop like kangaroos. It was a big thing back then, and we got her shut down over and over, but that sick *itch is still trying to register them as a breed and she she still sells the cats under the radar. She needs to be put down.
Here is the story: http://www.messybeast.com/twisty.htm

That is just plain sad. To purposely in-breed cats (over and over) to get some sort of “different” cat to make money. The cats/kittens were essentially deformed and couldn’t fend for themselves at all. Plus, can you imagine the pain of that type of deformity? It would have to be painful to the animal.
