Today Tuva lost one of the most vivid representatives of the traditional school of Tuvan khoomei, the owner of inimitable performance mastery of kargyraa style, National khoomeizhi of Republic Tyva, Aldyn-ool Sevek. In the words of musicologist Valentina Suzukei, his manner of throat singing was unique to such an extent that it was unmistakably recognizable..."
He was the only khoomeizhi whose performance so far nobody in the world could copy or imitate, despite all striving.
He spent the last years critically ill in Kyzyl, hospitalized at the oncology hospital, while he very much wanted to go back home - to the distant Mongun-Taiga.

Aldyn-ool Sevek
Tuva (Russian: Тува́), is a federal subject of Russia (a republic). It lies in the geographical centre of Asia, in Southern Siberia. The Republic borders Russia to the North-West, and Mongolia to the South.
Let me guess.
and you realize you’re listening to something from a completely different world
Well, it kinda grows on you. The high pitched thingy which is the string instrument I guess, add a lot to it. I like learning new stuff like this.

No that is his voice!
wow. that is amazing. As a vocalist and a musician, I want one!!!!!! :). Sadly he has departed. May the gifted instrument/man rest in peace.
The high pitched thingy is his actual voice.
From Wiki:
Tuvan throat singing is one particular variant of overtone singing practiced by the Tuva people of southern Siberia.
The art of Tuvan throat singing is a style in which two or more pitches sound simultaneously over a fundamental pitch, producing a unique and vibrating sound.
It is astounding, powerful, and seemingly out of this world.
RIP.
This was cool. I’m sorry this man died.

Is this a great planet or what?.
Amazing. Love mining up old & unknown stuff on YouTube!
I thought it was a little pitchy, dog... but he definitely worked it out and did his thing... I don’t know if he can go all the way in this competition...
I've just spent the last hour listening to this band do amazing things morphing what I assume are traditional folk music and instruments with good old fashioned rock&roll.
Its the Tuvan version of Steeleye Span!.
And in the same vein, the Hungarian version - Veszelka Kommandó...
