I remember a science program that used special lighting to show fumes from both gasoline and alcohol open containers flowing up and over the lips of the containers. Apparently this gent failed to see this program, much to his detriment.

You can’t let your hole get plugged up, words to live by with a moonshine still and in general. In moonshine stills it can cause an explosion, a still is like a pressure cooker.

If you’re going to distill alcohol or make essential oils, there are a lot of alternatives as far as stills go. One of the best designs for personal use is the column still. Here are some examples:

Unfortunately home distillation is generally illegal in the US, which means that the hard part is getting the quality distilling apparatus.
