UPDATE: Former U.S. Senate candidate Christine ODonnell will not speak at a tea party event featuring former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin in Indianola, Iowa, this weekend, an organizer told Washington Wire.
I made a mistake, said Ken Crow, president of Tea Party of America. I assumed there was an open slot and there wasnt.
Monday night, Mr. Crow told Washington Wire that Ms. ODonnell would appear.
Tea Party of Americas cofounder, Charlie Gruschow, said the group withdrew Ms. ODonnells after receiving numerous emails from a lot of tea party folks that were very disappointed that she would be speaking.
We decided not to have her speak, Mr. Gruschow said. We felt it was in the best interest of the movement.

Or because she’s a blithering idiot?
Good for the Tea Party. She is a serious liability.
I wonder how many people will actually buy her book?
She did an interview on local TV yesterday, wearing an ill-fitting jacket and she was unable to utter even one complete, coherent sentence. What an airhead!! Her 15 minutes are way over.
Thank God..she is a liability.
Perhaps another speaker weighed in on the matter...
Back when she was busy making sure the GOP would not have a Senate majority she had many dedicated followers here who were very angry at me for not recognizing her genius and her electoral value.
I believe Christine is trying to rehabilitate her image. I hope she is able to succeed and that her book is a success for her along the way. She was very good last night on a CSpan presentation of her appearing at a Republican women’s forum. Christine needs more of that venue, but she does not yet need to be headliner material for an important Tea Party rally. She was very warmly received at the televised forum, and by her closing her audience appeared to be actually rather touched by what she had revealed and her captivating common style. She has been blunder prone and it’s been our loss.
Yes, what happened to those angry, dedicated followers??
I always thought she was appalling and said so.
But, she is NOT a witch.
Are you sure? We need the Scales of Justice to see if she weighs as much as a duck...
Very well said, and it has been our loss. I felt from the very beginning that Christine had merit but lacked experience. I will not join in the "fun" of kicking her to the curb. With a bit more experience on her part and a bit more Christian tolerance on our parts, I believe that she will have a future in politics.
Good. I cringed when I saw she’d be speaking at the same event as Sarah Palin.
Agree...
I was never a fan. I imagine she is a nice enough person and I believe she means well. But perhaps running for the Senate (three times) was not exactly the place to start her career as an elected politician.
Ah, yes, what a damn shame it was that paragon of Conservative virtue, Mike Castle, wasn’t coronated for his Senate seat.

I agree with you, and though I didn’t follow every nook and cranny of her “blunders”, or even her campaign, I liked her thoroughly. The relish with which even the RINO machine went after her is a perfect example why citizen representation is dead in the US. That regular citizens can no longer run for office has greased the wheels for mostly players, and plenty of favors, exchanges and outright corruption. Personally, I think that is a tragedy.
Christine is a tragedy. Hope she is able to make her point.
Castle, for once in his useless life, would have actually helped by giving the GOP a 50th Senator. That's all he had to do: just sit there.
O'Donnell was a guaranteed loss - she was not only talked very conservatively (and there are many like her out there who like to talk conservatively), but she had no record of doing anything - a completely empty resume. DE might actually have voted in a Tea Party year for a conservative - but only for someone they knew as a woman of concrete action.
She was a complete waste of time and money from the beginning.
