I’m the same age, and think the same thing.
A guy somewhere in my area has one and I see it sometimes. I even got to meet him once when it was broke down on the side of a highway not too far away. He let me sit in it and after a couple of minutes, 6’3 me had enough. I’ll take a police box for standing room.

Yesterday we drove by my granddaughter's elementary school, less than a mile from her house.
I commented to my wife.
"When we were kids, we'd walk or ride our bikes that far. Not take the bus."
It's just not safe today. What has happened to our society?
I was 10 on Christmas 1953 and the best Christmas present I ever received was to wake up and walk into the living room and find a brand new Schwinn Corvette by the tree. I have never forgotten the excitement I felt. Those chrome fenders, the wheel lights, the streamers! It was heaven.
I was only 1 ... but I share the excitement you felt .
gold standard, no competition from the rest of the war torn world. modest expectations. intact families. no “wall of separation” between church and state invented by liberals. no Miranda rights. no welfare or child support for unwed mothers. no endangered species act to use against progress. no blanket right to sue to punish people who committed no crime....
we took it all for granted, just like the Greenspan years and pre Obama/Pelosi years.
Obama comes into the Senate in 2007-—and in 5 years he turned the United States into an also-ran.

We were taught to know the difference between right and wrong and to stand up and take responsibility for our actions.
Serving your country was a privilege; living in this country was a bigger privilege...
We thought fast food was what people ate during Lent.
Having a meaningful relationship meant getting along with your cousins.
Draft dodgers were those who closed front doors as the evening breeze started.
Time-sharing meant time the family spent together in the evenings and weekends-not purchasing condominiums.
We never heard of FM radios, tape decks, CDs, electric typewriters, yogurt, or guys wearing earrings.
We listened to Big Bands, Jack Benny, and the President’s speeches on our radios.
And I don’t ever remember any kid blowing his brains out listening to Tommy Dorsey.
If you saw anything with ‘Made in Japan ‘ on it, it was junk
The term ‘making out’ referred to how you did on your school exam....
Pizza Hut, McDonald’s, and instant coffee were unheard of.
We had 5 &10-cent stores where you could actually buy things for 5 and 10 cents.
Ice-cream cones, phone calls, rides on a streetcar, and a Pepsi were all a nickel.
And if you didn’t want to splurge, you could spend your nickel on enough stamps to mail 1 letter and 2 postcards.
You could buy a new Ford Coupe for $600, . .. . but who could afford one?
Too bad, because gas was 11 cents a gallon.
In my day:
‘ “grass” was mowed,
‘ “coke” was a cold drink,
‘ “pot” was something your mother cooked in and
‘ “rock music” was your grandmother’s lullaby.
‘ “Aids” were helpers in the Principal’s office,
‘ “chip” meant a piece of wood,
‘ “hardware” was found in a hardware store and
‘ “software” wasn’t even a word.
And we were the last generation to actually believe that a lady needed a husband to have a baby.
No wonder people call us “old and confused” and say there is a generation gap. or from the archives

Perverts and criminals get a pass that’s what happened. Kids sit in front of the tv and play video games because gang bangers, sex offenders, etc. are taking advantage of the fact that both parents work outside the home.
You wouldnt mind giving up custody so I can adopt him, would you?

I was a “dj” at a 1KW radio station in RI in the late 50s and remember most of those ‘golden oldies’...........
When the Beatles took over in the early 60s, I hated them but
now I pick a lot of their tunes on the baritone uke on the porch for my 51 year bride.
You didn’t hear the “F” word (bleeped or not) on TV...especially from the mouths of women...in those days.

The president of the University of California system, Clark Kerr, symbolized the problem. By refusing to discipline student activists who were taking over buildings and obstructing classes, Kerr, in Reagan's view, had only encouraged further disruptions. The regents of the university system were displeased with Kerr, but he was lionized by the media, and they were afraid to take him on. As governor, Reagan was an ex officio member of the board of regents and at his first meeting on January 20, 1967, told them that if they wanted to fire Kerr, they had his full support; he would handle the political fallout. Kerr was ejected, to his own evident disbelief.
Then Reagan turned to the activists. Initially he tried to engage them in dialogue, but he soon found that they only wanted to trade barbs and insults. Reagan's quick-wittedness is apparent from records of some of those exchanges. At one campus meeting, a student told Reagan that it was impossible for people of Reagan's generation to understand young people. "You grew up in a different world," he said. "Today we have television, jet planes, space travel, nuclear energy, computers." Without missing a beat, Reagan replied, "You're right. It's true that we didn't have those things when we were young. We invented them."
