This incessant fearmongering about any and every storm makes people callous to a future real storm. 24 hour coverage, evacuations, mobilizing the entire emergency plan...

Well, he did cut his vacation short so he could manage the wind and rain...whew...
Few things struck me over the past few days about this:
1. I guess New Yorkers really do want a nanny mayor.
2. The Weather Channel geeks - not ready for prime time - have milked this for all it’s worth and more to try and be relevant in the nation’s biggest media market.
3. The cry wolf syndrome is definitely being put into place for a future catastrophe.

My sentiments exactly. I realize that some storms take on a life of their own and can change rather suddenly. However, many folks will ignore the next “urgings” to stock up or evacuate because of this.
Speaking of blizzards, maybe Bloomberg is feeling the guilt from the man dying during the blizzard last year while he was down in the islands
It seemed Bloomy thought he was talking to a city full of 9 year olds.
The Weather Channel has taken leave of all rationality. It is pure hype and doomsday scenarios 24 hrs a day. And the bimbo newscasters are annoyingly stupid and condescending.

Good advice for New Yorkers even when there's no hurricane, as long as Bloomberg is mayor.
If you do an objective policy analysis Bloomberg ends up significantly to the left of Barack Obama. Shocking but true.

This sort of hurricane hits nyc every 50 years or so.
There is likely to be flooding on lower manhattan so subways not working etc
Global warming is depriving us of hurricanes!!!! When was the last really big one, 2005? And, for going on six years this is the best we can come up with?

Thanks for a voice of sanity.....two days ago, the forecasts predicted Cat 3 hurricane..right at NYC..far better to be safe than sorry...
