After contentious negotiations between Sony and AMC over Breaking Bad, AMC has renewed the show for 16 episodes and the series will end after that. Because sixteen episodes is a little longer than normal, it is not yet clear whether AMC will air one last season of 16 episodes or break it up into two mini seasons.
Given reports that AMC originally wanted to go with a shortened episode count for season five, this is probably a win for fans you might be getting a short season five, but there will be a short season six to go along with it, and it adds up to more than a 13 episode fifth season.

I love this show. How was the pressure getting to the cast?
This is a terrific show. Great acting, production, writing. Breaking Bad, Spartacus, and maybe Rome, are the only TV shows I have found worth watching for several years. But any TV show, after 3/4 years, the plots start to get very contrived, so it is probably just as well.

Never watched more than a few episodes. Always seemed amc was trying to glorify the lives of drug dealers. I dunno... making a meth labber the hero just didn’t seem appropriate. What next? A program about a NAMBLA lobbyist?
I never thought Jesse would have the stones to shoot that guy.
I was hoping he wounded him in the arm then told him to hit the road and never look back- and schooled him on why he would end up being dead
that said- I can’t imagine where the original script writers think this is going.
Walt was supposed to be this geek in over his head- but now he is just going along as if it is all commonplace to him. that part of the show is gone, I hope not forever.
I intend to buy the serieis and watch them from the start. We are due for a serious plot twist.
The first year will be tough to beat- the episode where they almost kill the drug dealer and then he runs into atree was hilarious.
When Walt runs over the two punks just as Jesse is about to have a firefight, then gets out and blasts him was seriously cool.
Hopefully, the series will end with Walter White getting arrested and going to jail.
That’s the only show I make it a point to see every week.
That, and Holmes Inspection, so I can spend some wuality time ripping on that a-hole. :)
Wasn’t he supposed to have inoperable cancer and was going to die? So much for that plot point.
He’s the healthiest lung cancer patient I’ve ever seen. Maybe there’s something in the chemicals he’s always working with. Hey, there’s a series finale - Walter cures cancer!
Season 2: Walter first tastes the problems of Faustian bargains.
Season 3: No longer dancing with Satan, now dating Satan.
Chemo worked, and they were able to successfully operate. Hey, it does happen.
I wish I had said that!
Always seemed amc was trying to glorify the lives of drug dealers.
Not seemed, they are. It’s repulsive as hell.

absolutely agree!!!
to “provide” for his own family, he makes drugs that DESTROY other families ?!?
that is evil, pure and simple.
I have a feeling it won’t end well for Walt, it can’t possibly end well or it will indeed glorify meth makers
TV show creators and studios thus now seem to aim at a five to seven season run in their story planning and talent contracts. They also recognize the value of bringing the story lines and characters to conclusions that satisfy fans -- all the better for cable and syndication resales and DVD box sets. I look forward to the remaining episodes of Breaking Bad as likely to be some of the best.
Every show should end by the 3rd and 4th season. Sopranos barely survived the 5th as an example. I just download thru bit torrent the shows I like like Game of Thrones (avoiding giving HBO a ratings point), Camelot and even the new Thundercats.
The GI Joe series that just ended is also recommended: a cartoon that defended the US military and showed respect for it, even though it was in the wrong. No lib nonsense which is a miracle. (I have a sister in high school so that’s how I discovered it)
I watched a bit of Game of Thrones, but couldn’t get into it. Then I read the book and am now reading a sequel. Good reads! I think probably the books are better than a TV show good ever capture.
Camelot - I got bored after 30 minutes - seemed like a bad PC imitation of Spartacus, which I loved and could not stop comparing it to.
Spartacus and Breaking Bad are the only two shows (other than some reality TV and MMA stuff) that I have really, really enjoyed. I also got them by torrent as I live in Thailand.
