Patton: Only Republicans Can Re-elect Obama
GOP USA ^ | August 8, 2011 | Doug Patton

Posted on 08/08/2011 7:43:05 PM PDT by Immerito

I remember someone asking me at a Christmas party after the 2008 election what I thought an Obama presidency was going to be like. My response: "I think it will be a socialist nightmare - but Republicans have only themselves to blame."

What I meant by that statement was simply that on too many occasions, the GOP nominates its oldest, lamest, most liberal candidate available, one who attempts to sell himself to the party as the next Ronald Reagan. It happened in 1988, when Republican primary voters selected then Vice President George H.W. Bush, who claimed for himself the mantle of the Gipper's third term. We all recall how well that worked out: "Read my lips," remember?

*****

When the history of the 2012 presidential election is written, what will we remember? That a conservative Republican challenged a socialist nightmare for the leadership of the country — and won? Or that the Republican Party nominated another squish who allowed the worst president in our history to follow through on his promise to "fundamentally transform the United States of America."

Not sure who was worse - Dole or McCain.

Oh so true. The squish he has in mind has to be Mr. Massachusetts health care himself: Mitt Romney.

Both were bad, but Dole maintained my respect, he was just the wrong man for the job. McCain can piss off.

McCain would’ve been disastrous. Dole would’ve been mediocrity.

They were both equally bad campaigners who wanted to be gentlemen first and President second. However, the difference is that McCain could have won had he not botched it. And losing to Obama is more unforgivable than losing to Clinton.

McCain would’ve been disastrous.

Juan McLame: "We have nothing to fear from an Obama presidency."

Obviously, in hindsight, by "we", he did not mean to say, "We Americans," but rather, "We your Overlords...."

Dole left the scene a long time ago, no longer relevant to the fight at hand except as a lingering history lesson of republican squishiness vs. conservatism that was never learned and doomed to be repeated in 2000, 2004 and 2008. McCain is still dancing to bipartisanship music and chasing away Tea Party hobbits for Obama while the nation is being torn asunder. McCain and his ilk have created grievous damage to conservatism and continue to do so.

The problem is we have too damn many fossils in the Senate and House. McCain, Hatch, McConnell, Snowe, Collins, Murkowski. They must all be a hundred years old.

Get the hell out of the way and let somebody who can stand and breathe unassisted have a chance.

We didn’t nominate those clown, the Dems did. With their crossover voting, media brainwashing, and out-and-out cheating they essentially get to pick both candidates.

Sad but true and I haven’t seen any effort to make it different this time.

Dole kicked Clinton’s fat ass in ‘93 and ‘94 before the cavalry arrived.

No more establishment candidates for the GOP. We need an outsider like President Reagan. I didn’t like Bush Sr that well and when he made the comment about a “kinder, gentler nation”, IMHO, it was a jab towards President Reagan and him speaking his mind and not taking any $h!t from anyone !

And the republicans most surely will reelect Obama. The system is broken and can only be revived by the Tea Party, only they haven’t truly “arrived” yet..but they will, because they will more and more be seen as the “voice” of a frustrated American people.
