Probably from an Antarctic ice shelf that broke off, floated to warmer climes, melted and dropped its encased contents to the sea floor. I recommend staying away from the Thing.

Not at all possible that it is/was a replacement gun turret for a battleship that fell overboard from its transport ship when it was damaged in transit through a known transit zone?

The “front forks” not being from a starship, but the surrounding structure for the two much heavier, buried 14 or 16 inch barrels?

Didn't James Arness already star in this movie - except it was under ice?

You must have a 'Thing' for Jame Arness...

FTA: Now, however, his team do not have the money or resources to examine the shape further.

So, they can get funding to chase after some sunken champagne bottles but can’t raise funds to check out an extraterrestrial spacecraft? I guess they don’t have a lot of faith in their own claim.

Maybe Sir Richard Branson can pop on over there and claim it as his own, then reverse engineer the propulsion technology and retrofit all his planes.

Dosen’t have the money to explore it further:)
You could still get in on the tail end of the global warming scam. Maybe there are some tree rings next to it or a dead polar bear. That’s it! Sink a polar bear next to it.

It’s actually just a big rubber stopper on the floor of the ocean. I sure hope they don’t find the chain and pull it.

"Looks like Han Solo's rig."

Say, wasn't that the one that made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs? A Model YT-1300 Corellian Light Freighter, I believe. Can't place the name though...

It’s the Millennium Hummingbird. It was the “green” Ultra Light Freighter the Corellians made ... rumor had it they were so embarrassed by the sheer idiocy of the design. I think we know where they dumped it now.
