I had a fun and productive weekend at Westfair (Pottawatamie County, Iowa). O4P was out in force and it was the ONLY candidate to have a booth at the event.
We passed out quite a few fliers for the BIG Sept 3rd Tea Party event (just west of Des Moines). We got a couple of people to sign up for O4P. I can summize from my intel readings, interviews and personal experiecnes, that the Palin base in Iowa is strong, organic, and very active. Contrary to what some in the MSM might say, WE OWN THIS STATE.
There were two Ron Paul people (friendly and quite libertarian...had an intersting chat about the history of Hawaii) and a paid Perry rep (who looked tired and board most of the time). They mostly stayed in the Pottawatamie GOP booth and rarely ventured out. There was another Ron Paul supporter (not connected to the other two) that stopped by our booth for a chat and he was one SCARRY dude.
On Saturday, I had an Obamabot stop by our booth. He started off with a snarky comment about Palin and it quickly devolved to him bantering talking points and glib. My partner at the table said "Hey, the DNC table is that way!" and that that ended the "conversation".
Sunday had me playing DVDs of "Sarah Palin's Alaska" which drew a crowd from time-to-time. One of the younger Obamazombies stopped by (age 16) and we talked a bit. He was more open than the others and my partners worked him over a bit (gently). With luck, me might snag another one over to our side.
There was a DNC table at the event. It looked dead most of the time and they didn't even show up for the final day. EPIC FAIL !!!!
Making plans for more Iowa events, perhaps a long weekend drive with Palin signs and O4P materials. My local group will be in Des Moines for the big Tea Party event to hear Sarah.

Go Sarah and Go Hawks! Hey how was Bachmann’s presence there I’m just curious I hear so much from the MSM that she has Iowa locked up. Of course I don’t believe it, and how’s the Obama presence in the state? I remember in 2008 Iowa had quite a few 0 supporters I wonder if that has dominated any. Keep up the good fight!

NO Bachmann prescence at this fair....NONE. No reps, no staffers, ZIP-ZERO-NADA. LOTS of interest for Palin.
The only MB materials I saw at the fair were a few fliers at the County GOP booth.
Cain was there on Saturday but he didn’t last long.
DNC presence was weak and pathetic. Their table (and the people there) looked like a wake. They didn’t even show up on the last day.
