Lisa Nowak, a former NASA astronaut whose 2007 arrest made national news, has officially retired from the U.S. Navy with an "other than honorable" discharge, officials said Thursday.
In a statement, Assistant Secretary of Navy Juan Garcia said that Nowak "demonstrated a complete disregard for the well-being" of romantic rival Air Force Capt. Colleen Shipman.
Authorities said Nowak drove nonstop from Texas to Orlando, confronting Shipman, then the girlfriend of Nowak's former lover, at Orlando International Airport on Feb. 5, 2007.

*smiles*...but she’ll get a movie deal
But can she keep the diapers?
Depends.
DADT
Is this news a leak?
She’ll retire as a full CAPT (O-6) won’t she? With all the bennies?
the “other than honorable” discharge may impact eligibility for VA benefits.
Wearing diapers so she didn’t have to stop to pee. You see boys and girls: That’s astronaut training in action.
The long distance trucking industry would welcome Lisa into its ranks!
And this took four years to decide?
This happened in 2007, and they’re just now getting around to doing this? What does one have to do in the Navy these days to merit a Dishonorable Discharge and be booted post haste? Of course, she demonstrated some pretty wacky behavior, so maybe she has been in “rehab.” Did she get screwed up in the Astronaut program, or has that screening process gone to hell in a hand basket as well?
Is she one of those who participated in the faked moon landings?
It took the Navy 4 1/2 years to decide this? Has she been on full Captain’s pay this whole time? After a kidnap/murder attempt?
As far as I can recall, the only discharge requirement for VA benefits eligibility is that it not be a dishonorable discharge. She should qualify for them with an "other than honorable".
Well played, Sir, but I'm looking for some Certainty:
They run on govt time. Some guy wrecked a fuel tanker on a freeway ramp here in Indy Nov 2009. It burned up a bridge and caused a lot of traffic headaches. NTSB report came out yesterday: he was driving too fast on the ramp and lost control. Amazing!
