Good news for those who have been craving some more Royal Wedding glitter. Theres another one this weekend.
Its the event many thought would never happen: the marriage of Prince Albert of Monaco, the 53-year-old bachelor head of state of the tiny but rich principality on the Cote DAzur, and Charlene Wittstock, a South African Olympic swimmer 20 years his junior.
The Grimaldi family has ruled Monaco for more than 800 years, and has featured on the global glamour map ever since Hollywood arrived in the form of the last bride to marry into the family, Prince Alberts mother Grace Kelly.
The state may be small, but the event will be extravagant. This being Monaco, a tax haven where you are practically imprisoned for understated dressing, chances are the guests jewellery and couture alone will make the Windsor effort look like the Middletons village fete.
Charlene will require a minimum of four fabulous designer outfits for this three-day affair, which kicks off on Thursday night with a stadium concert by those ageing rockers The Eagles and a cocktail party for select guests. On Friday, theres the civil ceremony at the Town Hall, with two more concerts that evening,
On Saturday afternoon, its the religious ceremony, a Roman Catholic service at the 13th-century palace at which Charlene will wear Armani, followed by a white-tie dinner and ball. "snip" Charlenes hen night, a couple of months ago in New York, was an encouraging sign for the tone of the future celebrations. She wore a leather corset and skintight trousers to go with the leather-and-lace theme

The leather corset part is disturbing ;}, but so far Charlene has made few fashion faux pas.
Many are comparing her sunny good looks to Alberts mom, Grace Kelly. IMO the resemblance is more cultivated (plastic surgery?) than genuine. . Like Princess Grace, she has fine features, wide eyes, and high cheekbones, and often sports similarly elegant chignons and well-cut frocks.
At 5ft 11in, with broad shoulders and an athletic figure, she is an impressive-looking creature, as seen in this months U.S. Vogue wearing a sleek black swimsuit and then a frothy ballgown.
Yikes! That’s Princess Bea, Fergie’s daughter at
William & Kate’s wedding.
The French style is much more refined and understated. But you never know... It sure will be fun to see the outfits. I’ll post when I get the pictures.

Bald guys rule! Way to go, Al!
A new movie called 'Monte Carlo' is coming out in a few days.
But with her model looks, she can pull off wearing a leather corset. She doesn't just have a tall athletic figure, she's a former Olympic athlete.
Once again I see a lot of fluff and granduer for a couple who long time have already conducted themselves as more than a couple. Much in their life is about appearances, equally so those who they will rule over...but it is their culture and traditions.
Some of his history, children out of wed-lock, the age difference etc. is pretty great but then some gals like to marry father figures especially when they bring a title and wealth with them.
I understand she has not really had a career since her swimming years years ago, but seems to have simply waited around for the Prince to make up his mind... until Armani picked her up as a fashion plate for his designs. Now it seems her place and contribution will be to bring fashion into the little country.
Ok...pretty enough for me to know about them..nothing really outside the norm for royality. I suspect this grand event will make the news and will be interesting to see the show as it moves along.
LoLRotf....that hat still looks like right out of the mad hatter in Alice in Wonderland..as does the gal wearing it. Actually she and the hat would do well in a Dr. Suze book!
Welcome to Earth!
Let's cut to the chase, shall we because we don't have royalty in this country. She appears to be quite unstable with very different looks and styles. To me her photos are repellent and scream “run!”. I say 18-24 months before the psycho celebrity meltdown. But that's impolite. So let's let them wed before such nasty commentary.
There is the great amount of interest in this wedding because Albert is half American. His mother was the great American actress and beauty, Grace Kelly of Philadelphia.
Albert was educated in the US, Amherst and Wharton, went to camp here, and has a huge American family here, the Kelly & Levine family.
Monaco has been pro-American, pro-business and pro-capitalist. None of the Euro-weenie socialism for them.
We all wish them the best.
BREAKING NEWS:
Just read in a European newspaper that the wedding is off.
Charlene is pissed because of the many out-of-wedlock children her fiance has fostered over the years.
Thanks for the ping!
Your vulgar language is not welcome here. We are not like Leftist DU HUFFPO or KOS. People watch FR just waiting for us to slip up.
FWIW your post is trash. Everyone knows about Albert’s past... Nothing new here.
While it is hypocrital with his Catholic faith, he is just human, and a sinner, like all of us.
He has done the right thing and acknowledged & supported his two children, and they are regular visitors to Monaco.
